V&H Power Duals vs. Rinehart True Duals, 2010 Limited

I have 4" Rinehart slipons on the bike. What do I get from putting either of these components on the bike? V&H Power Duals, or Rinehart True Duals. Hopefully more sound, but do they both get rid of the "cat"? Why do people do this? Why would I do this? V&H is half the price of Rinehart, again, what's the difference? And if I go with V&H does it matter that I'm running Rinehart slipons. Any help appreciated, I really don't know the answers to these questions, I do like my bike loud and I understand the "cat" interferes with the sound.

In my case, I currently have a 09 CVO Roadie. The 09 CVO's had the cat in the stock headers, it was WAY to hot & way to quite for me. I loved the way the new stock header looked, routed underneath the swing arm. At the time, I found some stock 09 touring headers for a pretty good deal on craig's list. Bad news was, they wanted to much to ship to me. I first got the rineharts slip-on, much better sound, but still way to restricted and hot due to my stock cvo headers. There wasn't much of a choice for aftermarket headers back then, didn't like the V&H power duals. Came across V&H ads about their dresser duals & started looking around for the best price. Ended getting some from Eastern Performance Cycles in Maryland. They had the best price out there, I think they are around $339.00 & free shipping. I COULDN'T be happier! No more heat, sounds like a Harley, not like a sewing machine, and so, so, much cooler. No more fried right leg. Anyway, sorry so long, but if you want to keep your rinehart slip-ons, may I be the first to suggest the dresser duals & Eastern Performance Cycles. Good Luck & Ride Safe! YELLOWBIRD

09 yellowbird - what have the true duals done from a seat of pants feel. I have 09 serg with a 96 non cat head pipe and am considering the 4 inch rineharts to replace the stock mufflers. Now that rinehart has a full true dual setup and the 4 inch slip on's seems like a good option - appreciate your thoughts.

Sounds good, what was it about the power duals you didn't like? I like the looks of both, and say, do I have to get the "FL left muffler mounting kit" to complete the installation? I see it listed for both dresser and power duals.

Hey Acdccox, Being that the dresser duals are true duals, some say that you can lose some power. I truly can't say if the seat of pants feel is better then the stock cvo headers. Sound whys, it's unreal. At least to me. Every time I get on it, or leave from somewhere, I get nothing but great comments on the sound of my bike. One of my bros has a 08' street glide w/ the 103 stage II, SE255 cams, SEPRT and black rinehart true duals. We both agree that my ride just sounds so much more wicked & nasty. It could be because the 110' vs the 103'. Truly, I couldn't be more happy w/ my bike. What's really crazy, I don't even have a SE race turner, TTS, PC5, etc. and get about 42 to 47 miles per gallon. My Roadie is a keeper and I'm so stoked!!! I hope this helps out. Take Care & Rode Safe! YELLOWBIRD

Acdccox, Once again at the time, not many choice for aftermarket headers. The power duals where the first ones out. It's not that I dislike them, in fact I think they look pretty good. It was mainly price vs the price of dresser duals. For the price, the power duals did not produce really a lot more hp for the engine. I just wanted something that really looked stock. Also, there was a dude around here w/ another cvo, that had the power duals, and I didn't want to copy. I really wanted some rineharts true duals, but they didn't make those back then. Opinions, everyone has ones. Beauty, it's all in the eyes of the beholder. By the way, I think your color scheme for your limited, was the best for that year! Take Care & Ride Safe! YELLOWBIRD

Acdccox, I don't think I did. Just double check. I think the only thing extra I got was some good sealer for the pipes where they connected to the headers. I didn't want any exhaust leaks. YELLLOWBIRD

I just installed a set of 4" Rineharts and the V&H Power Duals on my bike. Much more power and torque than the stock pipe. I like the 2-1-2 of the V&H headers as you get a little more power out of them (kind of like how muscle cars always have an x pipe in their exhaust).

I think the biggest difference is that the power duals don't produce that dip in the torque curve that the true duals do. How significant is it is your call. I think if it's "sound" that you are after the true duals are going to sound different and to most better.
