use built in Chat application with Data! mobjab.com

I don't know what is going on, but I suspect that no development is taking place because it does not take a month to make a simple user management portal that essentially edits a few fields in a single user database table.

I've essentially stopped using the built-in IM app because there is no (reliable) server-side support, and also because Nokia's built-in implementation has poor disconnect handling. What I mean is that upon the loss of reception it does not always auto-reconnect in cases where the reception either is lost for a long period or fades in and out frequently. The built-in Nokia program, in my opinion, is not worth all this effort with server-side implementations to get it to "work." Yes, ROM software is cool, and not having to buy (or install free) IM clients is even cooler, but, frankly, this ROM piece of software just isn't up to the task.

So, I think, we should forget about the wireless village protocol once and for all...

Hi

Regarding Jabber-XMPP-Gtalk External IM connectivity on mobjab.net Domain we had to change/update our Database structre. Unforunately that invovled dropping/deleting the existing contact lists and the existing Jabber-XMPP-Gtalk contacts added to the contact lists.

Users on mobjab.net would need to recreate the Contact List and again add Jabber-XMPP-Gtalk contacts.

Inconvience cuased is regretted.

Hi

I have no idea if it's an IMPS client or not. Just the fact that it *was* pointed to the t-mobile wireless village servers was enough for me to guess that it is, but guessing is not being sure.

Might be a locked IMPS client.

I've tried everything as a user name for the client, and I always get that it can't connect to the server. I can go to mobjab.com in the browser, but not mobjab.mobi.

you cant reach mobjab.mobi on browser as that domain runs the IMPS gateway.

There is no Username: or Password: fields on the built-in chat program, just "Enter full email address" to which I enter "[email protected]" which doesn't work, or "[email protected]" which also doesn't work.

A IMPS client needs to have a Username and password field and the URL/Server where to connect to.

Sad thing is that T-Mobile crippled J2ME so that only T-Mobile apps can access the internet, otherwise I'd just download the MobJab J2ME client.

Inbuilt IMPS client would offer far better chat experience as compared to any J2ME client.

Hi,

When I log in using the MSN client on a computer, it shows that I have 26 contacts online. However, when I log in on my phone right after, it shows that I only have 10 contacts online. Some contacts that should be online are not shown as being online. Is this a known issue? My user ID is homestah.

Thanks.

FAQ Update

After I login to Gtalk-XMPP IMPS Gateway on MobJab.net I dont see any of my Gtalk-XMPP Contacts/Buddies there.

You dont get the list of freinds/buddies of GTalk automatically on mobjab.net as there is no need to register your Gtalk-XMPP account with us.

You need to directly add Gtalk-XMPP users to your IMPS client on your handset.

You would only get the list of freinds/buddies of AIM/ICQ/MSN/Yahoo automatically on mobjab.mobi as you have registered your AIM/ICQ/MSN/Yahoo account with us.

Hi

We are currently concentrating on the IM protocols and specifically data only. Skype we are not sure but does sound interesting.

Can't test... Problems with contacts/contact lists...

Old contact list is lost. (Why?) I created new list (at last after several tries), but can't add gmail contact:

1. Log on to the IMPS from the phone.
2. Try to add my personal gmail account as a contact.
3. Accept invitation from mobjab account in gtalk client.
4. Phone proposes to enter contact details. Save the details.
5. Phone says 'Updating contact info' and remains in this state forewer. So at last I press Cancel, and contact is not saved.
6. Sent test msg from gtalk to phone. Message is delivered.
7. After reading the msg, the phone proposes to add the sender as a contact.
8. Steps 3-5 repeated.

At first I thought that possible cause is that my contact list name is in Russian. But this is not the case. The same problem with the list named Friends.

Could someone please confirm that they can set their available message to "blah blah blah" and then see "blah blah blah" under their nick on a PC client, logged in to a different username? If so, please confirm the version of Nokia firmware, phone, etc, please. And, I mean strictly AIM here. It doesn't work for me.

Any idea on how I might successfully configure my Google Apps for Your Domain Google Talk account?

I've gone through the appropriate set-up for an XMPP account on the MobJab site, and when it failed (error 3), I thought maybe it was an issue of not having the right SRV records in my DNS.... So I went about adding all the appropriate records for both _xmpp and _jabber services, yet still nothing.

Any thoughts would be massively appreciated.

Also, your service is spectacular -- my AIM account works really well.

Hello All

Thanks for your feedback on this. We operate MobJab Services. Regarding the points:

1. Full Contact List

we are not limiting the number of contacts there. MobJab server would send all the contacts in the roster to the mobile handset. Eventually it would depend on the mobile handset if its capable enough to handle all the contacts or not.

If you are not able to load the contact list fully let us know your mobile handset.

2. multiple IMs:

You can connec to Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, AIM, via MobJab at this point of time. We are working on getting Gtalk integrated.

If you are finding any problems in connecting to Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, AIM, via MobJab let us know.

3. Native/Inbuilt Client absent:

We would recommend that you use the native/inbuilt IMPS client of your mobile handset as it would give you a seamless chat experience. In case your mobile handset doesnt have a native/inbuilt IMPS client then you can download one of the following versions of MobJab Messenger. Details:

http://mobjab.com/download.htm

4. wifi as an access point. Should work. Let us know your feedback on this. Of if you are not able to connect what error do you get excatly.

Hi

Can you let us know what problem are you facing excatly? Even if your subscription is only FROM are you not able to see the contacts presence when you login to your mobjab account?
