Urbans Classic Albums No 1 Radiohead - OK Computer

One thing I remeraber about this album was it made all the year end lists. Most of the times at the very top. Not just Indie lists but many mainstream and popular lists. Then a wave of banRAB trying to emulate the sound of Radiohead wasn't far behind. I bought my copy of OK Computer the day it came out and remeraber telling my frienRAB that this album will someday be mentioned along such classics like Revolver, Pet SounRAB and Dark Side Of The Moon.

I dunno I always put OKC and Kid A on a completely even plane... mostly for vastly different reasons... kid A is the more mysterious, experimental side of the band whereas OKC makes the bigger lyrical statement, both albums, in my opinion, showcase a band that is totally at the top of it's game...

i remeraber hearing it the first time. I'd borrowed it off my brother and was listenig to it in the middle of the night while drunk and for some reason rang him up and told him that i too was back to save the universe.
Stupidest lyric ever.

Still monumental to me after all those listens and something like twelve ears legacy... a definite recent classic in my mind...

I read an earlier post on hear praising Godrich's production work on OKC.... and i gotta agree, the production on the album is absolutely spot on, beautiful.... it takes these amazing songs and makes them soar even higher and with it's blend of traditional rock instrumentation and electronic elements, it perfectly underscores the sense of postmodern traditonal vs. postmopdern nothingness future the album is trying to at least partly highlight... a great job!
