Unusual E61 and Gmail problems?

Alright alright, don't eat me alive. I've searched a ton, and read all the how to's on how to setup gmail on E61's. All my settings are fine. It connects fine and there are no errors or anything like that, but it always just says I don't have any new mail. I know for a fact I have 15 new e-mails or so, it just won't recognize it. I can't figure it out for the life of me.

Here are my settings just so you know I'm not an idiot (or maybe I am, if so, please point it out). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Incoming Mail settings:

User Name: my e-mail address at gmail.com
password: my gmail password
Incoming mail server: pop.googlemail.com (I've also tried pop.gmail.com)
Access Point in Use: Always Ask
Mailbox name: Gmail
Mailbox Type: POP3
Security Ports: SSL/TLS
Port: 995
APOP Secure login: Off

Outgoing Mail settings:

My e-mail address: my e-mail address at gmail.com
user name: my e-mail address at gmail.com
password: my gmail password
outgoing mail server: smtp.googlemail.com (also tried smtp.gmail.com)
Access point in use: Always ask
Security: SSL/TLS
Port: 465

Anyone have any ideas? I'm beginning to think gmail's pop server just isn't worth using. I have my gmail account hooked up to outlook 2002 on my desktop as well, and while I can receive and send messages just fine, when I delete or read an e-mail from outlook, it doesn't do the same on my gmail account when I open it in a browser, which drives me nuts when I need to check my e-mail from a computer other than my desktop (because there's 100 some new e-mails that I've actually already read and deleted on my desktop back home). Even though this isn't a cell phone problem, I thought it was appropriate to throw in here since it has to deal with gmail's pop servers.

Thanks,
Mr. H

I don't think it has anything to do with your settings, I had the same problem when I had my E61. Eventually gmail locked me out of my account because it said I violated the Terms of Use. There's a problem with gmail POP.

I finally got so sick of this I sold the E61.

I just tried sending an e-mail from my phone, and it worked fine. I just can't receive anything. Anyone have any idea why?

Back up a little you can actually pop gmail account to your phone (E61) wonder if i can do this for my BB Pearl and if I can wher can I get the settings cause right now im using http://m.gmail.com but i rather pop it to my BB pearl instead anyone know if I can

I had this problem several weeks ago when I finally set up gmail on my e61. It would not download all the messages in my inbox and would often not recognize new messages. I took the advice that was detailed in another thread and went into the gmail settings to toggle the pop3 access setting. After doing that, the built in e-mail client recognized all the messages and downloaded them. You might want to try that.

Wirelessly posted (Nokia E61: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.1; U; en-us) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413 es61)

Im lost, if you have a BB and a BB plan why dont you just use BIS and use gmail that way? Gmail now offers reconsiliation with BB devices.

In the settings menu of your gmail account, there is the option "Forwarding & POP". Under "POP Download", click on "Disable POP" and then "Enable POP for all mail". That worked for me.

Sometimes Gmail thinks that your request for info might be suspicious and will not allow you to access it. Please read the following that I read after a quick search on google.

"Sometimes GMail thinks that something is wrong with your account and locks you out of POP access. When this happens, you may get a 'password is invalid' error when attempting to add your GMail account. Make sure that your password is entered correctly and try adding your Gmail account again. If that problem still occurs, then go to https://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha and fill out that form. Then try againyour GMail account, it should work."

(Maybe selling the E61 might have been the wrong choice! LOL )

Hmm, that didn't seem to work either. I can get the phone to download some messages, but only if I toggle the POP settings on Gmail off then on again. Then I can download my messages, but when I go to do it again, it clears them all. So I tried setting up Cingular's Xpress Mail since it now supports the E62, and again, I can't get anything. This is driving me nuts. The phone is awesome otherwise, but I really need to be able to send and receive my e-mails. Any ideas?

Try to create a new gmail account and see if it works.
I also had a problem setting up gmail for my e61(i have no idea why but i think it is because i have too many emails, around 1gb), no luck, so i created a new account and forwarded everything to the new account. Now it works just fine.

Old thread, but I figured I can help. I have Gmail setup to pop to my Outlook, and also to my phone. I've found that if a message gets sent to Outlook, Gmail marks it as "popped" or whatever, and won't send it to the phone. Same thing, i think, if you receive it on your phone first. I believe there is a workaround, but I don't remember the link.

Ideally, I could pull up gmail on the web freely, and also have all the messages sent to Outlook. If they're read in one place, they're marked as read in the other two places. As far as I can tell, Blackberry offers this, but I don't use it enough or need it badly enough to pay that much. It's more of a convenience for me.
