I didn't think it was all that bad. :look:

ROCKSTAR I agree, I didn't think "Alexander" was that bad of a movie at all! I have seen far, far worse films then that. I liked it, and can't see why it was deemed so bad.

1) Gwyneth Paltrow did NOT deserve the Oscar for Best Actress. Cate Blanchett was robbed that year for "Elizabeth".

2) Helen Hunt did not deserve to win 'Best Actress for "As Good As It Gets" over Judi Dench for "Mrs. Brown".

3) Denzel Washington did not deserve to win Best Actor for "Training Day". Russell Crowe should have gotten it for "A Beautiful Mind".

4) The Golden Age of Hollywood has passed. I love some of today's films, but I doubt there will ever be another Errol Flynn, Clark Gable, Lana Turner, Katherine Hepburn, Gregory Peck, Orson Welles, etc.

5) Citizen Kane is a very good movie, and it's incredible when you think that Orson Welles was just 25 or 26 when he made it!

6) "Shakespeare In Love" should not have won Best Picture over "Saving Private Ryan". Should not have even been nominated.

1. Crash didn't deserve Best Picture over BBM.
2. Sideways was a horrible movie.
3. Lost in Translation was overrated
4. Disney movies in the 90s were much better than todays
5. Katherine Heigl is not a very good actress/ Patrick Dempsey is not a very good actor--both are not good leads for movies, even if they are romantic comedies
6. Diane Keaton is annoying and not charming.
7. Mandy Moore could actually be a decent actress if she picks the right roles. She was funny in Saved.
8. There Will be Blood was a horrible movie albeit with great acting.
9. I liked the ending for No Country for Old Men. It fit the theme IMO.
10. Ryan Gosling is a very underrated actor. Most people just know him from the Notebook but he deserved an award for Half Nelson, Lars and the Real Girl.

UO #1: Crash was a terrible, terrible film whose storyline has been seen in many a film before it.
UO #2: I find nothing funny about Month Python and the Holy Grail
UO #3: Kate Winselt should have won the Oscar for Sense and Sensibility, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Little Children
UO #4: Paul Dano should have been nominated for a Best Supporting Oscar for There Will Be Blood
UO #5: I love Mars Attacks!
UO #6: The Hairspray remake doesn't hold a candle to the original
UO #7: Dreamgirls was an awful film and when Jennifer Hudson won the Oscar over everyone in her category, it made me want to vomit!

^^ Well said.

I think the thing to remember when comparing a movie to a remake or updated version is to remember what film makers and actors had to work with in their time.

I mean Lord of the Rings could not have been possible 20 years ago, not with the technology we have now.

UO #1: Star Wars movies aren't that great
UO #2: Jamie Foxx shouldn't have won the Oscar, Don Cheadle should have.
UO #3: I think Shakespeare in Love deserved its Oscar win--I love that movie.
UO #4: Lord of the Rings shouldn't have cleaned up at the Oscars.
UO #5: Nicole Kidman should have won the Oscar over Halle Berry (Even though I thought she was great in the role, Nic's was just better)
UO #6: I love Ben Affleck and think he's a really talented actor.
UO #7: Along the same lines as above, but Surviving Christmas is a really sweet hiliarious movie and I love it.
UO #8: I don't like Ed Norton at all

I'll post more later

UO #1: I loved Crossroads. I thought it was a great story, and I loved Britney in it.

UO #2: I thought Liv Tyler and Ben Affleck actually had pretty good chemistry in Armegeddon!

UO #3: The Replacements was an AMAZING movie.

UO #4: I thought Prom Night was a good movie!

UO #5: Though it was sad, The Notebook wasn't that great of a movie.

Casablanca's romance wasn't as good as everyone says it is. But...I am very willing to give it another chance as I watched it years ago.

I can't stand A Walk to Remember.

Reese Witherspoon didn't deserve her Oscar win.

All of us have at the least, a few unpopular opinions when it comes to movies. You love a movie everyone else hates or viceversa. Maybe you don't like "The Godfather," maybe you don't think Johnny Depp is the best actor to ever live, etc, etc. This is the place to share those views! I'll start!

UO #1 - I didn't like The Virgin Suicides that much, I found it boring. I thought Lost in Translation was better.

UO #2 - I love Alexander. It was incredibly well made, I love the performances and I think it is a fine movie.

UO #3 - Joaquin Phoenix should've won the Oscar over Phillip Seymour Hoffman. PSH is one of the best actors I've ever seen, but Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash was something else.

UO #4 - I liked Spider Man 3. I didn't think it was better than the previous two, but I thought it was a cool movie.

UO #5 - Eddie Murphy should've won the Oscar for Dreamgirls hands down. Alan Arkin was great, Eddie Murphy was incredible.

UO #6 - Josh Hartnett & Ben Foster were the only good thing about 30 Days of Night.

UO #7 - Borat wasn't funny.

UO #8 - Alfie was a really good movie.

UO #9 - The Seventh Seal is truly excellent, but man, the pacing! I'm more used to modern movies than I'd like to be.
