Unpopular Music Opinions

To be honest, I'd say any genre can get as clustered as metal. Take prog rock for example - progarchives.com has plenty of subgenres as they are a bit liberal with genres. Italian symphonic prog rock is a bit extreme I think (4 tiers).

Well, I don't consider post-rock to be a specific genre with a very strict rules. It can be argued that these first banRAB like Slint, Tortoise etc are classic post-rock. Only after tremendous influence of GoRABpeed You... and Mogwai has it become a proper genre and we see the results in this decade. It has no where to go.

What the **** is this ****? Have you even heard Vauxhall and I? "Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself" is one of the best songs he's ever written! I love the life out of that album actually. Now My Heart Is Full, The Lazy Sunbathers, The More You Ignore Me..., Lifeguard Sleeping/Girl Drowning, and I Am Hated For Loving are on par with the best of the Smiths as well.

If you`re talking about "Degradation Trip" I like that album a lot too. I was never much of a fan of Alice In Chains, but always preferred Jerry Cantrell to Layne Staley.

Bah. I don't hate emo to be popular, believe it or not at one time I tried listening to it with an open mind.

If I could I'd build a time machine for me to go back into the past and warn myself not to listen to it. I'd do a lot of other things too, like attend one of Freddie Mercury's halloween parties.

I respect the Stones, but besides Paint it Black and Can't You Hear Me Knocking....they're just meh.

I really like Drab.

Just because music is popular doesn't mean it's bad. You're just as much of a conformist for not liking it.

I like a whole different bunch of genres and artists, some that a lot of people within the metal community would gag at. I just don't get what's so 'wow' about Radiohead. It's incredibly bland music, in my opinion.

I wouldn't argue with anyone regarding it's new found popularity and abuse. I am aware of it, but like you, I don't really listen to the music it's been adopted by lately. When I hear it used successfully in a genre of music I like, I can still find some enjoyment in it as I'm not totally desensitized to the effect. It is a shame how cookie cutter it is being used and tossed on far too many tracks.

You know, TCS, you could have just posted your unpopular opinion as you did in the KoL thread:

Because that's crazy unpopular. I assume you were speaking of Californication and By the Way, which are nowhere near Freaky Styley, Uplift Mofo, or Mother's Milk.

GravitySlips: were you only referring to recent RCHP or all of it? As a punk guy I kinda assumed you didn't mind 80s RHCP...

yes, I was gonna suggest to just listen to TOTBL because it is seriously incredible.

edit - james, it's a good song but not one I'm the most fond of out of all their material.

Not really sure what you guys think about Regina Spektor but..... I think she is a talentless whiny little *ahem* that can't sing with her own piano work. She can't sing on pitch to save her miserable little life.
