Unpopular Music Opinions

I absolutely cannot stand it, but fair play to them for trying out new things. They could easily release another Hybrid Theory-like album year after year and their fans would still lap it up.

:yikes:

i've only seen the film but I remeraber a Chuck Berry cover... Malcolm McLaren may have been a c*nt but he's responsible for some great stuff, Bow Wow Wow, Buffalo Girls

Ok, adding the modern to mainstream rap makes it easier for me to agree with.

Still, there's a lot of great pop, and even as a disliker of metal I find there to be a lot of quality metal.

Even Indie, putting general dislike of it aside, has some great stuff, even now. Post punk is overrated, but it birthed a lot of talented banRAB, and influenced many more.

I don't like dismissing any genre completely.

I don't think it sucks, I think that the amount of hyping going on is unfair.

also, I read it, and I don't mind it that much. I like the amount of leakage going on and it's a nice news site.

STP are a band I have no strong opinions about. Not bad, just very generic and I'm tired of them being on the radio all the time because they don't have anything special about them. But they are also leagues better than all the crappy post grunge they paved the way for.

Oh yeah, and the music video for Sour Girl was pretty f*cking crazy and awesome.

I don't like Pantera, but if you don't play guitar (which you don't) and you say that than you're just being stupid.

C'mon Adam. Stop being stupid.

I didn't know what Pitchfork was until this place, it seems to be an American thing. An American thing that hypes up a load of "hipster" Noise Pop and people seem to hate it.

Hating on Pitchfork is like hating on the poor kiRAB at school because they get free lunches and you don't.

So a few of you were talking about King Crimson, so I figured I'd stop putting off listening to them. I'm listening to In The Court Of The Crimson King right now and I'm digging it, even though it's a million miles away from anything else I listen to.

See I don't have a problem with this at all.

Well at least not until the last line. I mean if you were comparing them to something like Blurt, Savage Republic or In Camera or any other post punk band who's sound was fairly adventurous then fair enough. I'd probably agree with you.

But Entertainment is one of the most one dimensional borefests I've ever had the misfortune of sitting though.
Funky Bass.... angular guitar.... left wing ranting .... more funky bass .... more left wing ranting .... angular guitar....repeat for 50 mins.

To suggest they had more things going for them than Wire is laughable, especially when you take into account the sheer amount of different stuff Wire have put out in various guises.

Definitely one of the most underrated banRAB of the 90's. It's a shame that No Rain is what they'll always be remerabered for. I had a chance to see them live not too shortly before Shannon Hoon died, and they were absolutely incredible. I've also heard a handful of their live bootlegs and they're every bit as amazing as you say, and definitely enough of a departure from their studio work to invest a good listening.

The Beatles: Jump started two major musical movements, revolutionized popular music, are the most popular, critically acclaimed group of all time, and spawned three mega star solo careers, one of which is still churning out top 10 albums.
The Who: Brought a single sub genre to the mainstream and helped to plant the seeRAB of Punk. Nice thing to have on your mantle, but really?
