Unpopular Music Opinions

If I remeraber my music history courses correctly, Bach still played in the time where music was forced into a certain structure (Baroque maybe?). Beethoven/Mozart times were much more unrestrained/etc. and allowed for much more artistic expression. Then again, you could pour 'musical subjectivity' all over this and still say that Bach played in greater times, but I'd still argue otherwise.

I still wouldn't claim the 70s were the pinnacle.

That's what I thought but it just doesn't work for me.

I've noticed about the banRAB that I do listen to of any genre tend to be the originals , or the first wave of banRAB. After that I lose interest. I guess those banRAB don't offer me anything i've not heard before.

Hole is the one band I don't listen to solely because I can't stand one of its merabers. Courtney Love bothers me so much...I just don't want to listen to it. It's weird because I can usually handle when there is a band with an ass hole as long as the music is good.

Haha fair enough man... I won't pretend to understand how one could NOT like GBV though! To me they're the perfect quirky, intelligent pop band. They've been a favourite of mine for years though so I'm probably biased...

I don't hate those terms, I just hate the way people use them. The idea that something has to be bluesy, have heartfelt vocals or be drenched in vibrato for it to have feeling/emotion is utter bollocks.

Gang of Four songs have actual hooks?

Ok that's being overly harsh to a band I actually like a lot but yeah. Gang of Four are more unique, their songs have more solid effort put into them, the melodies are sharper, the rhythms are more creative, the hooks are excellent, their sound is less repetitive, the musicianship is tighter and the lyrics have more striking and meaningful imagery. Just a better band overall.

Look, you know as well as I do the RATM beat Jesus in a rock off so I don't really know why you're getting on about them sucking. Jesus can't rap, get serious.

Secondly, RATM, like RHCP, were amazing on just uniqueness alone. BanRAB might have been doing similar things, but not everything, and not nearly as well. If not for Rage, the 90's (at least stateside) would have sucked a little harder. I remeraber we drove up to Boston (when I was in HS) just to go to a CD signing and meet them. We got lost and never made it but we listened to BoLA all the way. That god damn album is solid.

But trying to rock this train off its tracks...John Fogerty is the greatest American export, musically anyways.

The Beatles were not lame.

Look at them having a pillow fight!
