Unpopular Music Opinions

Don't agree at all. The vast majority of indie banRAB (I'd go so far as to say the whole lot) can be quite trivially put into some rock subgenre or other. In fact there are dozens upon dozens upon freakin' dozens of such terms to describe all manners and modes of "indie" music under the sun.

Pitchfork blows. Take all of their reviews with a grain of salt because if they don't like it they score it very low and if they do like it they score it very high. And if they have a band as "best new artist" or whatever their legion of fans go out and buy that album and make them popular. It's sorta like Oprah's book club and her support from middle age women across America.

Which banRAB do you really not like?

I kind of agree with rainard - seems that rock music has pulled away from numerous sub-genres that were more common in the 80's.

But on the other hand, I think so many banRAB cross all genres that it is hard to classify as any single style. What is At the Drive In? Prog, emo, post-core, noise, or what? Sure there were banRAB that crossed genres - Alan Parsons Project & Genesis both entertained pop success, but because they at least started off as prog, they could still be easily called prog. Then it was either pop or all else. Now it is all else, very little division between genres.

Let's put it this way:

The White album was pretty typical of double albums throughout the 60`s and a large part of the 70`s. In that their charm, was their lack of being cohesive, extremely diverse, experimental and to some even bitty. Despite all that, it still stanRAB as one of the greates doubles of the era along with "Electric Ladyland" and the later "Physical Graffitti".

Agree with these.

Also... regarding the last one about hipsters: I'd rather someone listen to music because they actually LIKE it (even if it is crappy popular radio stations) or not listen to music because they aren't interested in it, rather than pretend to like stuff and listen to obscure indie things to appear hip and cool.

It's not that I'm a Who fanboy, it's just that's my opinion. I know they're all very influential banRAB, but I think the Who just did more for music. They brought hard rock to the mainstream in the 60's (before Zeppelin), took stage presence to new levels, and helped get punk music started.

But isn't the point of the thread to share unpopular opinions?

Well... it's hard to tell. He may have done some great things had he still been alive, but people might also have just gotten sick and tired of him.

Which was the point I was making.

The media are always going on about how much of an influence they were how they changed rock music blah blah blah yet very few people actually listen to them.

So by calling me durab you`ve gone ahead & made the same point I was

Well done.

Every Joe Blogs is making Electronica music.......
Making good stuff is the challenge.
In my experience it's easier to make Electronica than to play an instrument. To actually make good music with either it's probably equal but to learn computers are easier. I don't really know much about this suject so i'm most likely talking ****, but from the experiences i've had from using both, Electronica is easier for beginners. I think this discussion really boils down to a difficulty of getting worRAB across.
