Unpopular Music Opinions

Hate solos? Thats like saying you hate chorRAB. I'd say a great deal of the music I listen to has a pretty big emphasis on soloing.

Great solos can go on forever. Maggot Brain goes on for 10 minutes, and at no point does it really bore me, it's just a very intense amazing guitar solo.

I always thought U2 were kind of dismissed around here, and I've stuck up for them in the past because people that say they were never good are wrong. I think they had a couple of really good albums, couple of ok ones, and a lot of bad ones.

I may whip Achtung Baby out on a rainy day. Best album of their career.

^personally I think Nickelback is a terrible representation of canada. It's often held against us, when the canadian music scene is discussed.

We should be known for GY!BE and Venetian Snares. Unfortunately Post-Rock and Breakcore get quite a bit of hate so that's not gonna happen.

Im still not seeing why radio airplay was brought up in a discussion as to whether or not Janszoon likes Creed. The only possible reason i can think of is that you seem to think that because Nickelback has been on the radio alot more than Creed have over the last ten years, this accounts for his opinion? Im sorry, i just dont understand or see how it is relevant.

I dont listen to the radio and never really have. I have heard both banRAB. Both banRAB suck yet Creed are better. The radio doesnt factor in my opinion whatsoever.

Red and ITCOTCK are far from shit. While their albums on a whole may have monumental amounts of hype surrounding them, single tracks ("Epitaph" is pretty much genius) are fantastic and are basically gateways into the genre. For the most part, it was just progressive rock completely void of pretentious wankery, which you know, most people seem to dig nowadays (hence why Dream Theater hatred is skyrocketing).

nickelback isnt too bad, i kinda like em. what i REALLY feel bad for you guys about is that canada is known for Justin Bieber. yuck.

i listen to a lot of mainstream stuff, i live in a really small town so you dont really hear anything else on the radio and you cant buy much in stores. i am slowly being learned in your peoples awesome (and sometimes weird) music though!

Listen to I Want You (She's So Heavy) and then tell me he's not a good bassist.

McCartney is not only a technically accomplished bassist, but more importantly his style of playing was original and inspired many other bassists to stand out more.

And bass solos only work in jazz, funk and music influenced by it. You know, when the bass is important enough. Whenever metal bassists try to do it its just laughable.
