Unpopular Music Opinions

How? I fail to see where I'm rubbishing the Beatles. What I'm saying is that if Nickelback were to take drugs and suddenly sound like the Beatles, I wouldn't be able to make fun of them anymore. And as such, because they're a bad band in my opinion, the thought of them being critically acclaimed like the Beatles were/are makes my head hurt.

Early nineties rock was absolutely amazing, mind blowing stuff... the second generation of grunge was, well kinda forgettable, but you also had the development of post - rock, so it was redeemable! Overall I thought the nineties was one of the strongest decades in rock overall, but right now, it's just become unfashionable to be a 90's music freak, because, well, that's how it goes. We all lamented the eighties in the nineties. I suspect that in the coming years we'll all say the 00's were crap, and that the nineties were where it's at. It's all to do with which generation is in the position of power with regarRAB to dictating fashion, public opinion, etc...

I tried to suggest a couple of doom albums to you a while ago, as you said Black Sabbath was your favourite metal band, and I don't think you liked them. I recommended Pentagram's first album and I forget what the other one was now.

Hopefully you get on well with those three. Doom is my favourite metal subgenre.

The vocals can sometimes rub certain people the wrong way i feel, when it comes to Candlemass. But I do like that album, it's a good starting point for sure.

And I can vouch for being able to love stoner rock/metal without being a stoner, as i dont smoke. The weed may enhance the experience (i would assume) but it's definitely not necessary.

not really following this logic here...

HttT was more of a return to the guitar based form the band was BEFORE KidA and Amnesiac (which IMO are two decent albums that should have been a single great release with an excellent b-sides ep on the side not unlike the Airbag ep for OK Computer).

i can totally see why someone who dug on the more experimental electronic sounRAB and songwriting styles of KidA and Amnesiac would be turned off by HttT as it seems to be a throwback rather than a progression.

I think it just a matter of opinion, personally I like MC5 more than The Stooges. Another lesser known band from that era that has some grounding in Proto-Punk (possibly an influence to those 3 you mentioned) is The Flamin' Groovies (Terrible name, great band), which I also like more than The Stooges.

Because his lyrics aren't that good, and I'd much prefer SOME kind of diversity when you're going to have a band releasing as many albums as they have.
