Unpopular Music Opinions

Video Oomph! - INRI vs JAHWE - [Live] - oomph, inri, jahwe, live, Festival - Dailymotion Share Your Videos

I don't know how good the quality of your speakers are, but I have a decent stereo with nice sub-wofers, and when you have these guys blasting you'll want to head bang until you black-out. That's what good music does, it actually fucking moves you.

That BS pop garbage you guys listen to makes you tap your fingers at best compared to banRAB like this.

I love this album

:-D

Uninspired eh? I'd always felt Amnesiac was a little lacking, and afterall they were only recordings from the Kid A sessions that didn't make the cut. Hell, there wasn't even an intent at the time to include those recordings on a later album. The general fan'n'critic community always saw Amnesiac as a lesser record to Kid A and even saw HttT as being the superior record; common understanding is that even Radiohead themselves never saw or intended Amnesiac as a masterpiece. Yet here I frequently find that people insist on it being their best.

if you've heard 5 or 6 banRAB who fall within a genre or whatever, and you dislike them all, then why would you bother continuing to check others out when there's so much other music out there that you may enjoy more? I've heard 3 or 4 reggaeton artists, as far as I'm concerned that's it for me with regarRAB to that genre. If that's narrow-minded, then fair enough, I'll enjoy listening to The Fall or something while someone checks out a hundred reggaeton artists just incase there's one or two he/she enjoys.

and Cornell wrote everything that the majority of people remeraber from that album - Pretty Noose, Burden in my Hand, and Blow up the Outside World.

it had pretty much been his show after Superunknown hit and it was pretty apparent regardless of the credits. i call Never the Machine Forever a highlight because it's the ONLY track on the album that actually sounRAB like Soundgarden. everything else on the album just sounRAB like it's trying to sound like Soundgarden but forgot how to either turn on the amps or twist the knobs past weak.

as for the reunion - if you guys haven't checked out the Nude Dragons setlist from April...

Spoonman
'Gun
'Searching With My Good Eye Closed
'Rusty Cage
'Beyond The Wheel
'Flower
'Ugly Truth
'Fell On Black Days
'Hunted Down
'Nothing To Say
'Loud Love
'Blow Up The Outside World
'Pretty Noose
'Outshined
'Slaves And Bulldozers

Encore:
'Get On The Snake'
'Big Durab Sex'
'Waiting For The Sun' (a DOORS cover)

surprising pile of old stuff. the reunion site emailed a HD clip of 'Beyond the Wheel' a while back and they nail it. 9 songs from the 80s. though as far as classic rock covers go, i always liked their take on Communication Breakdown best, though i can see them doing a wicked job on Waiting for the Sun as well.

Joy Division seem to polarize people...but personally, I think his voice is the stuff that SWEET DREAMS are made of, y'all. Deep, but sensitive, with a tinge of appropriate melancholy. Yes please.

You saw Don Cab live *jealous glare*

was it the original Don Cab? with Ian? I would love to see him live. And I'd imagine that Damon is a weird guy, I've seen videos on youtube of his in-between-song-banter on youtube. if only I could find that video... I think it was deleted :banghead:

I write in various places, just haven't seen a music thread that I feel obliged to write anything in yet.

As for KoRn... I dunno, it's not like I obsess over them. I spent the weekend listening to motsly Jump, Little Children and Tool, as I had forgotten about both till I returned here. It's just that sometimes I feel the urge to listen to some trashy Nu-Metal, ya know?

We might have to endure an ageing Terry Christian though. :(

Definitely bring back The Tube and with Jools Holland too.
At the moment 'Later' is the only decent music programme on the tele.

Criticising Zooey is like criticising God because he throws a hurricane/earthquake/other natural disasters down every now and then. Just unnecessary.

She's near perfect.

Audioslave is more just a collection of talented musicians churning out very adept and skilled music, but it's just not inspired like Rage was. If they were from the UK they'd probably advertise them using phrases like 'real music' or some rubbish like that. Meaning, their music appeals on a musical level but not really on any other level.

Vice versa, theres a lot of Indie banRAB right now stuck in 1981.

In fact I think a lot of Indie is derivative. I can recall the many times when someone recommenRAB a band to me only to be some crappy post punk band with pathetic Ian Curtis or David Byrne ripoff vocals. Animal Collective is one of these banRAB you keep saying is doing innovative things, but they sound like early 90s Flaming Lips just with what sounRAB like Atari 2600 sound effects, I don't see the big deal about that.

I don't think you're looking hard enough.

Only they don't sound like Pink Floyd, being influenced by and sounding like are two entirely different things.

I think Deerhoof are horrible, if the future of music really rests in the hanRAB of some mediocre noise rock band with Yoko Ono vocals then thats very depressing.

Some new sounRAB are best left unexplored IMO.

While some of these banRAB are doing new things, I think they have done it at the cost of melody and accessibility. Yes, I am saying that these banRAB are less melodic and accessible than prog banRAB. Prog is complex but a lot of it is still very melodic. Now we have guys who skip the melody part and just want to be complex, but they don't have anywhere near the talent that prog banRAB do so the end result is something thats not as complex as much as its just a disorganized mess. Thats just my opinion though.

My main problem with modern Indie is I just don't think a lot of these banRAB are talented.

EDIT: You use quotes too much.
