Unpopular Music Opinions

ya lucky bastard, Shellac are one of the best live banRAB eva. They did a Q/A session when I saw 'em, I managed to get my ticket signed by Albini and Bob Weston as well. I'm keeping that one forever.

No chance they'll play a Big Black/Rapeman song though.

In terms of newer post-rock banRAB who exemplify the good qualitiies of the genre, Kayo Dot have to be up there with the best of them. For some reason I still haven't heard Maudlin of the Well though.

Slint's music excites me a lot more than Talk Talk's though. Talk Talk are a very good band who tried a lot of new and interesting things, and their music is excellent... but for me, their music lacks the personality that Slint's music has. It's unfair to compare these banRAB though as they were going for totally different things and have nothing in common except for being progenitors of post-rock. And I've talked enough about how Spiderland is definitely one of the best rock albums ever, no more about it from me!

I think it's more about presentation than anything. If you show up here acting like a **** and then you mention a band that most of us here think is total crap....yeah, prepare for a **** storm. There have been a load of people who roll through acting like normal humans who like crap music, but they were nice so they don't get it so bad.

I've heard 70-minute albums of essentially just long noise drones that are better than most contemporary pop albums (I'm not saying that pop is stagnant either, I legitimately mean that it's pretty great noise...). It's an odd claim to make, but smart noise-makers open up so many hypnotic doors that sometimes musical tones simply can't.

You want to get into a bitch fight or something? Nick Drake IS a better guitar player, his finger picking strumming corabination is brilliant and not even remotely clumsy, quite the opposite actually. Pink Moon is better than any guitar work i've heard by Paul Simon. Paul Simon is a fairly average acoustic guitar player, there are plenty of people aside from Drake that destroy him. John Fahey for instance.

Bob Dylan is widely considered the best songwriter ever, overrated? Yes, but in alot of cases someone being overrated means theres a certain truth to what they're overrated for. Do I hate Jimmy Page? Yes, I can't stand Zeppelin. Do I honestly think hes a bad guitar player? Not at all. Same goes for Bob Dylan, though I like him alot. Once I see Paul Simon write a Visions of Johanna or Idiot Wind i'll place him on the same level as Dylan, but until then he can just stay a decent lyricist and thats it.

I don't know if this unpopular but well, I wouldn't post it on Macca's official webstie forum.
Linda mccartney was a total bitch. She was such a ****in' harridan. screeching like a mental hawk at everyone who didn't conform to what she wanted about animal rights but what really does my head in about her is this
"I know that Paul was desperate to write with John again. And I know John was desperate to write. Desperate. People thought, well, he's taking care of Sean, he's a househusband and all that, but he wasn't happy. He couldn't write and it drove him crazy. And Paul could have helped him... easily."
what a ****in' over opinionated ****in' whore.

btw Linda. John Lennon was always unhappy from the end of 1964 onwarRAB.
