Unpopular Music Opinions

I don't think that the raw intensity you speak of was lost because of overproduction, but rather Soundgarden's natural progression.

I would say Alice In Chains got heavier as they progressed, Soundgarden did the opposite. You gotta listen to Superunknown if you haven't though. ****ing amazing album.

It's generally acknowledged among ... people, that I have terrible taste in music, so I either have many unpopular opinions, or no opinions at all (if it makes noise, I'll listen to it).
Must think on this and get back to you.

I'm sure it is...I was just commenting on sidewinder's post. I haven't actually listened to So Divided yet and I trust sidewinder's taste. I might have to check this album out.

Shangri-Las are soooooo overratedddd. I guess they have a certain appeal but "Remeraber (Walking in the Sand)" is weird......durab.....just plain BAD, even.

Thanks for the ShoeGaze link. I was only saying about Johnny Cash because he's been in all my husbanRAB guitar magazines recently being praised and I just wasn't that impressed especially with trying to make a snare drum sound. Sorry if I offended anyone. :o: I like his lyrics!:)

Big Black's Atomizer is twice as good as Songs About ****ing

Billy Bragg is really boring

A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing by Black Sheep is the best album to come out of the Native Tounges scene.

Blink 182's Dude Ranch is a great pop-punk album.

Die Kreuzen is easily the most underrated hardcore punk band ever

Eric's Trip is really lame

The Fall Of Troy is a good band

Who ****ing cares what Pitchfork thinks?

They gave Deceit a 9, should I stop listening to This Heat entirely cause they DARE touch on one of the greatest albums ever? No, I don't give a ****

I think he's talking compositional skill. Anyway, Porcupine Tree are doing something original. They are no doubt influenced by Floyd but they haven't sounded like them since before Signify. From Lightbulb Sun on they sound nothing like Floyd. Floyd never mixed in Metal riffing with psychedelia the way PT has done (Radioactive Toy is on one of their first albums actually).

I've got to admit my auditory intake of metal is non existent. Well apart from the Black Album, which is awful. I always imagine dudes with rubbish clothes, dodgy facial hair, tacky black guitars, and voices shouting lyrics that can be appreciated when your 15, in the style of an old WWF interview. I'm guessing this is the general opinion of outsiders. Is it way off the mark? LoathsomePete's comment, that it is a geek/nerd genre is true (though you could say the same for indie), but it doesn't really come across in the confident and technically precise music (the track above is nice, if a little tasteful), two features that usually don't exist in bashful, apologetic indie.

Genuine question; I dig Hendrix/Sabbath/Stooges/Motorhead big time. Is there anyone in recent metal that has that same visceral power? There must be something I'm missing out on.
