Unpopular Music Opinions

That's an unpopular opinion?!
I think 'blowing out of the water' is a fair description of how much better Joy Division is than New Order. And I love New Order

Is it really that unpopular to love Nico? I had no idea. I knew she was polarizing, but that's it. And I love her too, especially on Desertshore and Camera Obscura.

What can I say? I fell in love with it in high school. Not sure what you've listened to but 'My Favourite Accident' and 'Don't Call it a Comeback' are the best tracks from it IMO.

ICP suck ass. Green Day's alright.

Oh, oh, I think that Paul McCartney is easily the best songwriter in The Beatles. That's pretty unpopular, 'cause errbody loves their Lennon.

Originality is important for any album, but I think 40 years on we are allowed to look past a particular album's historical importance and really focus on whether or not that album is a collection of "good" music.

Sgt. Peppers is a cool album and I do like it a lot, but a lot of its appeal comes from the fact that it was so indicative of an era; music was either written before Sgt. Peppers, or afterwarRAB. The contrast is quite stark.

If Beethoven suddenly got ahold of a bunch of Chinese instruments and incorporated them into his arsenal, then we would probably think today that the music was cool from an originality standpoint. but originality≠good music, and I think the beatles are a prime example of this.

Revolver is a great album, followed closely by Abbey rd and rubber soul. The white album and Magical mystery tour are cool but just a little too diverse I think. The white album is so uncohesive, its like 3 artist's albums merged into one huge compilation I have only made it through the whole thing on long driving trips. Normally an hour into I just get bored.

Yes, I think the white album is sub par

I just listened to POAAF and Antichrist to refresh my memory of both albums (it has been a long long while). My opinion still holRAB. The first half of Antichrist is pure gold, but the album drags on far too much. Marilyn Manson should be handled in small doses, so a long ass concept album is kind of a no no. POAAF is still my favorite.

All this Nirvana hate aside, what most people forget about Cobain was that he had chronic bronchitis and was always in a lot of freaking pain from other **** too. And so while this is not an excuse for his behalf or anything, I often think that his heroin use (and the image that resulsted) was begun in order to escape from this pain that plagued him daily. The addiction that ensued is probably what caused him to go over the edge in the first place.
