Unpopular Music Opinions

EDIT: Where'd Fasho's comment go?!

Well, you put a lot more work into that post then I did. I was just mentioning what impressed me about them. To each his own...I know plenty of people who don't like them. Their albums may have done consistently well, but I was referring more to the feeling everyone had about them during those times. In the 80's, Hillel died...everyone thought they were done. They still managed to release Mother's Milk and then BSSM after that. Then John left and everyone thought they were done. One Hot Minute may have had a couple charters but no one felt it was a true Chili Peppers album with Dave. Then John comes back and Californication hits it big...bringing us to today. Anyway, I wasn't saying you owe them respect because of these things, I was just saying why I respect them.

Old RHCP > all funk (yes that includes Sly and Funkadelic)
The Clash have never been surpassed in punk
NIN really isn't that great
ISIS > every band in any post-anything genre
Robbie Williams used to have some good music, even outside his singles
Alice in Chains were a damn good band lumped in with a shitty movement

Acid Mothers Temple > Everything you like (kidding :))

Primus and Melvins are good but I don't worship them.
Seriously Urban, besides the fan base there isn't a really good reason to hate them.

Drake and Cave are alright but I prefer John Fahey and Moondog.
We're all just going in a circle.
The sky is blue because of Tirabuktu.

I like Lovage and Mr. Bungle is better than Faith no More.

Yes, but, he's saying it's unpopular to him, so he doesn't care what you don't like, but it's apparently a popular opinion that most of us do care what you don't like. Do you not see that we don't dislike knowing what you dislike?

This song is awesome. :thurab:

I like some others from this era too, before I really got into music. I still have appreciation for the pop gems of my youth though. Starship I don't know, I had two of their tapes but that's just kind of erabarassing now.

Danzig has based his entire vocal style on Morrison, to a goddamn t.

The Stooges/Iggy take a lot after The Doors beyond vocals. Their slower songs are very Doors esque, and their fast songs sound like Doors songs too only sped up and with distorted guitar and crappy musicianship. Heh, no wonder The Stooges are more hip.

I've heard very little of The Hives but I'd be willing to bet Is This It? is better than their albums of that 2 or 3 year period.

The way the last 2 albums for The Strokes have gone down, though? Unless The Hives are complete trash then, overall, they are better.

well, i think that goRABmack was the foundation for all things emo, i mean really
angst and
hate
omg
perhaps it was kid rock, but emo evolved into one thing....afi

^^^^ Yes, very true, and a good point, but considering what a 'junk drawer' of a classification post-rock can be, the banRAB that fall into the category are usually either absolutely amazing or the next great cure for insomnia.

I guess I can see her appeal to some..... I guess I didn't get it cause my g/f is really into her and she can actually sing. Like for real is trained in choral music. So I just didn't get it... I still don't.

Maybe you`re not too familiar with the following saying.

"When in a hole......stop digging!"

To write off prog metal as a genre is ridiculous, just because you don`t like Dream Theater (Who as stated above are hardly modern) and the comparison with Trivium is even more ridiculous.

Before writing off a genre, at least listen to some of the diversity and acts in that genre...........it may surprise you.
