Unpopular Music Opinions

I will admit that music enthusiasts do have a high opinion of him. I can totally understand why you wouldn't like him, though...he really is an acquired taste. I heard Real Gone before and liked a couple songs, but really wasn't impressed. It wasn't until Rain Dogs that he clicked with me. Even now, though, I don't play Tom Waits when I'm hanging out with people. Someone in the group will complain about it.

I take exception to Blur being in that list of overhyped banRAB, because they're actually good...

... otherwise I agree wholeheartedly with that post.... hehehehehe!

But here's the thing, you don't know what you're talking about, so how can your opinion be valid. If you just admit that you don't know shit when it comes to metal I might find it in me to respect your ignorance, but allowing this ignorance to form your opinion just makes you an idiot.

Sure, sure. But I don't understand its rep. Out of Time, Good Song, Brothers and Sisters, Caravan, On My Way to the Club...all really really great songs. There isn't a more consistent Blur album out there, save for maybe their self titled.

Listen to it as a Damon solo album and then tell me its horrible. I just think people are upset that Graham ditched out on them.

You are the person listening, you know when you've given something a fair chance. Like you and Arcade Fire, you decided you'd listen to it a couple more times and then give up on it. I think it's the same with the listener and a genre, you can only listen to so much of something before you grow tired of it. But like I say, totally shunning a particular style of music is wrong because certain genres can be such a loose label. Always go back to the genre and give it a fair chance. But I don't think there's anything wrong in saying you don't like a genre of music, as long as you feel you've listened to enough of it to decide.

It's all down to the listener, and I don't think its possible for one person's tastes to be so eclectic they can appreciate EVERY genre. I believe even the most open minded person will find one genre they dislike.

I like some of Springstein's songs but I am not a fan of his voice... the straining (pinching a loaf) sound doesn't do anything for me.

U2 I dig... they've had some pretty bad moments in the 90's (most of Zooropa and all of Pop) but I think as a band they are very unique and will be around for a long time. I used to think Edge was the worst guitar player when I was 16 but now I really appreciate what he brings to the table. He never goes overboard and his guitar work always suits the music perfectly.

I,m NOT praising Eric clapton I don't really like a lot of his music either-i'm saying that those banRAB were doing similar music to Led Zep years earlier. I like Led Zep but i think they are over rated. Will you not get over it?

Surely you don't need to listen to a band's entire discography to realise what type of music they're making? Piper was very psychedelic, then as their career got on I guess they went more Progressive with RABOTM.

I think with most banRAB, 2 of their best recorRAB you know what they're about. Blur - 13, Modern Life Is Rubbish. Bob Dylan - highway 61 revisited, blood on the tracks. Black Sabbath - S/T.

So 3 is more than enough. :D

Last FM discussions piss me off. I read one about the best band in Manchester.. laughable, almost.

Because a lot of it sounRAB like keyboarRAB. And I don't care what kind of effects you use, if you play a guitar solo like you would a normal guitar solo, it's gonna sound like a guitar no matter what kind of pedal you use, there has to be a technique that goes with it to produce something interesting and out of the ordinary.

As for Morello's use of harmonizer pedals, I don't get the big deal about that, it's a pretty awesome tool and gives the guitarist a wider range of pitches and notes to work with, and allows him to do so without the need of studio post production.

Jack White uses a harmonizer all the time. And he's the guy everyone praises for being all "stripped down" and sh*t.
