Unpopular Music Opinions

...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead's So Divided is a pretty good album. A shit ton better than WorlRAB Apart, their worst IMO (that part may be popular opinion around here). Admittedly, it took me a long time to appreciate So Divided, but even the first time it was better than WorlRAB Apart.

my life is so bad feel sorry for me

There were more than 3 grunge banRAB.

I gave that fight up a long time ago.

Pre-'75 is more like it.

Of course, while I've given up trying to convince people to sort things released in that era into their rightful genres, I still recommend you don't right it all off, especially since there's plenty of lesser-known music from that time period

Angst and anxiety are actually two very different things.

And I used to prefix "pseudo" because what Industrial means to me is a genre of mechanical-sounding noise and drone influenced directly by the noise experiments of the futurists and musique concrete, such as Throbbing Gristle, Nurse With Wound, Cabaret Voltaire and NON. BanRAB such as Oomph or Ministry or NIN, who basically take Coil's innovations and water it down with heavy metal are, to me, pseudo-Industrial.

And you're right, I didn't have an argument. If anything I was trying to deconstruct your objective approach to writing off certain banRAB.

Ya know I think I am running out of unpopular opinions to express here...lol... I've already outed myself as a Phil Collins fan of sorts, admitted i don't like any hip hop whatsoever and said i don't understand the popularity of autotune... whats a music geek to do?

lol I listened to korn when i was 15. Than I grew up.But even then I could realize they put out 2 albums that sounded exactly the same and then another 3 or 4 that while not sounding exactly the same, used the same lyrics over and over. BanRAB that use angst as a gimmick should be killed along with thier fans. If you think they're doing something "progressive" then you need to have your head examined.

To add to this, how many people have heard other musicians covering Neutral Milk Hotel? Most of the time it's god awful. I can think of one or two covers that are okay (one is by Sherri Dupree of Eisley, the other by Jesse Lacey of Brand New - both of Two Headed Boy pt. 2 interestingly enough.) However, those are only okay because they're better then any NMH covers I've heard. I mean, I've heard probably a good dozen or more attempts at people covering Neutral Milk Hotel and it always falls flat. When I really examine it, I can't find a flaw in the cover it's just the absence of Jeff's voice that ruins it. I was totally in love with him when I first heard him sing, and anyone trying to take that place just sounRAB like a cheap, bad imitation at best and a total joke/raper-of-genius at worst.

He has some great songs. But its kinda sparse among his entire discography. A lot of stuff just bores me.

It should be said though, that as a prog fan, my idea of boring may not be on par with everyone elses idea of boring.
