Unpopular Music Opinions

Maybe I'm just so used to using it on DDD and nobody there really gives a sh*t, I forget how politically correct this forum is by comparison. I've refrained from using the word on this forum for the longest time but it just came out. However I still defend it as not being a homophobic word and if someone took it to mean that then I'm sorry.

Circle Jerk's Group Sex is better than Black Flag's Damaged.

INDK's Kill Whitey! is better than Leftover Cracks **** World Trade

Tim Armstrong has sucked at everything he has tried to do since Operation Ivy.

Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger is better than their other album Superunkown. (Maybe not unpopular on here, but in other places.)

Sublime is so overrated that they are underrated.

Temple Of The Dog was twice as good as Mother Love Bone

I respect The Clash, but I cannot stand to listen to them.

Blink 182's early stuff isn't bad.

Arctic Monkeys are extremely overrated and don't deserve half the accolades they receive.

Grunge shouldn't be a genre.

.......OH MY GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE?!?!?!a

EDIT: alright, thinking about it for a minute, i will rephrase my initial statement

STP = 2nd best grunge/post grunge band of the 90s
Soungarden is still #1

I just don't like their sound at all, to me it just sounRAB like generic "alt rock" that any garage band with a week of musical experience could start cranking out to me.

But to give some credit to Sebadoh, Barlow is a pretty good bass player.

Well again Post Rock by it's very definition is creating a new sound from old and banRAB that put a new slant on the traditional sound of Rock are to be welcomed and Talk Talk (totally by accident) created a subversive form of the traditional notion of the 4 minute song as did Slint but I prefer what Talk Talk did and their influence is what I like to listen to when I listen to Post Rock. Different strokes and all that.

It makes sense to me! I'd still listen to Pop any day over the three albums that have come out after it...

No line on the Horizon had some potential, but I am kinda suprised by how quickly I went off that album...

fine, in that case the track in question is called 'nobody weird like me' in 1989 it did seem out of the ordinary for someone to be rapping about passing gas on a major label. it fit the tune and reinforced the aloof and comical nature of the group while reminding its listeners in an indirect fashion that they wouldn't shy away from unpopular / 'unacceptable' lyrical topics and reinforced themselves as a group of weirdos. when alt-rock was still legitimately odd. while it's possible to find all manners of fart related musical media on youtube now, 20 years ago it wasn't so prevalent.

considering the preceding verse is...

'intercourse with a porpoise is a dream for me
hellbent on creating a new species'

following that up with a verse about a laughing giraffe and a fart doesn't exactly seem out of place.

*edit* holy ****ing **** 1989 was 20 years ago :(
