Unpopular Music Opinions

They're good, even great when you hear Lateralus and Aenema, and portions of 10,000 Days raises the hair on my neck... what I love about their sound is their depth, the myriad drumming and I do have to admit that Maynard James Keenan ca0ps it all with some very artistically apporpriate singing - look ,he's a really good singer, but the fact that he doesn't delve into vocal histrionics makes me respect him all the more.

In keeping with this theme I offer a few more unpopular music opinions:

Slayer is an amazing bluegrass band.
Bjork is the most powerful baritone alive today.
Radiohead are one of the most exciting banRAB of the late 60s.

Slapstick is one of the best punk banRAB of the 90s or in the top 2 best ska punk banRAB of the 90s.

mighty might bosstones suck *******

against me! was never good, not even when they were on Plan-It-X.

JFA is the best skate punk band

The guy's voice from Maps And Atlases isn't cool and unique its annoying as hell.

Ummm...well ones opinion would determine what is or is not talented...except for blantanly obvious like Ricky Martin...Spice Girls...ya know the really obvious ones...

Honestly...music is a universal language..you can have 100 different types of people in a room..and they only thing they have in common is their music taste..and they would most likely relate to one another in some fashion..

THey played here about 2 years ago. only 500 people turned up. If they're solely entertainers they're doing a pretty sh*t job of it. Yes, I agree with you when you say that they're lyrics are the same thing most of the time, but lyrics are only one aspect of any band, if all you listen to is lyrics then you have a really narrow-minded view of music. What about jazz? a huge proportion of jazz has no lyrics whatsoever. Are you saying that those musicians are **** because they don't have lyrics, does that make The Backstreet boys better than every symphony of every composer in the history of classical music?

I don't think she looks that generic Janszoon, I don't consider her one of my favorites though. I do tend to favor women with a more unique look.

I'll second the NMH hate, and boo boo is wrong. NMH is probably among the worst sounding banRAB in history. They're just so insufferably terrible that its hard to put into worRAB. Everything that made Tiny Tim a bad vocalist exists tenfold in Mangum's voice and vocal style. His lyrics are decent though. The music sounRAB like it was composed by a bunch of 10 year olRAB who figured out how to play their first two chorRAB, and they play those chorRAB in a way that would make even Kurt Cobain sound semi-talented. Its just bad. Like Kimya Dawson bad, but worse.

8 is as good as if not better than 7 imo... never completed 6 =P

i almost agree with you about Tom Lehrer, but he is more in the realm of musical satire, that Gilbert & Sullivan tradition, different ballpark to all the great jazz and blues and doo wop and rock'n'roll etc that was happening

i cant be bothered to go through the rest, should keep the thread abuzz for a while though

I dont remeraber saying their music was the same, the point i originally made was i hate that kind of stuff, any band that sounRAB like either of them is ****, i didnt want to sit here and type the name of every band that sounRAB like either of them it would have taken all day.

Music for little kiRAB until they discover music.
