Look in any professional guitarist reviews such as Guitar world and Hendrix ownes them all
 
I think Jimmy Page is a VERY overrated guitar player...not that he isnt good but it isnt like he was some revolutionary....he did the same shit that all others were doing.....im in no way saying he isnt good but he is mos def not the best

I think someone like Robert Cray or Eric johnson....maybe beck, could be considered the best

Er...not really. And for the love of God, leave the guy alone. So he connects with John Frusciante's guitar playing moreso than he does with anyone else's. So what? Fack off.
 
Exactly. There is a best though, its just different for each individual. As you said thats where opinion comes in.

Although technically the bet would be the gutarest who most people like most.

NO ONE CAN SOUND LIKE THEM.
They can get close, but not perfect.
FYI, I have a '68 Strat that sounRAB pretty amazing.
Experts will tell you that tone IS in the fingers, not the equipment.
Maybe you should pick up a Guitar World mag. They actually had an issue devoted completely to the world's fifty greatest tones. ( In the lead up to the article, THEY conveyed that tone WAS in the fingers)
Many guitarists can get the tone they want from any kind of equipment.
That is why experts believe the tone is in the fingers.
It is an unexplained phenomenon. (I'm sure you could explain it though, right i.e equipment)?
By this perspective, my fingers have more music in them than your entire pedal board
And who are these "many" that have perfectly emulated SRVs tone?
Apparently, YOU have a lt to learn about music.
(Maybe you should lay off the sautering kit that "perfectly emulates tone" and focus instead on the music itself)
 
If we're going with technical ability alone, why hasn't anybody voted for Michael Angelo yet? He's the fastest, period.

If it's best overall, I'd go with Vai, but this is technical, so Michael Angelo Batio is my pick. Go to his site, Angelo.com, and watch his videos and sound clips. He's insane.
 
You realize he plays all downstrokes correct?

Not to mention he plays with a great deal of emotion, attitude, and plays it with speed. This isn't something many guitar players can pull off.

I've looked a few pages back and haven't been able to find anything but you saying people are stupid for their favorite guitarists. Could you say who yours would be?
Because, gessing by your name alone, I'd be inclined to believe you like Petrucci (sp?) =/ and he just plays fast...meh =/
