Ultimate Guide To Folding@home

We have had a few warmer days just now Rock.
Is there any chance heat is the problem?

Like in "Sun shining on your case" or,
"Dust and cobwebs on yyour heat-sink"

Most times when you delete a work unit you'll just get the same one handed out over and over.

Yeah it sucks, been there, done that.....
Close FD2, i found it out. Because of the heat i'm using CoolerXp and guess what?
They don't like each other. Stopped CoolerXp and Wham there it go's.

Spend 3 full days folding and no points were added. The bad thing is i did no work for the cause!

Oh well...

Thanks for the help guys

Ok, so it was a glitch I guess as the one that was gonna take like 20 years is now done, but I have something else that seems weird to me as well. It may just be because I've only done like 28 WU's, but, I just got a Amber Core. I thought it was just Gromac and Tinker... Oh well.

I've come to the conclusion that the new team stats are screwed. We've just been passed by "p2p_community". But before the new stats there were no threats. And if you look at their individual points they are quite impressive on a daily basis, yet they have zero points for the week.

Since they have the same position in the Stanford lists (which is the source of these stats) I suspect hacking. The top of their group ("Le_PoUnT") supposedly has had 159 active processors in the last week, yet both his daily and weekly points are zero. And he has supposedly performed 842 WU's on one project, but only 1 on each of another 4 projects. Similar trends can be seen for their number 3 "xlybox".

This is obviously nonsense, yet equally obviously the results have been returned to Stanford otherwise they would not have been credited with the points. The only conclusion is that the same results have been returned time and time again.

If my conclusions are correct, then statistically this dangerously skews the possibilities, not only making those results worthless, but undermining a lot of work done by other people.

I hope I'm wrong.

congrats VB1234

I just joined this project, I'm gooman528 (from my e-mail addy), but can't yet see my name on the list yet, probably because i just started, i don't know.

Anyway, I got pentium 1.8 GHz, with 256 RAM
Great! Welcome.

Your name will show up on the list a bit after you complete 1 full work unit.

If you have a look further down the log you will probably see that it has actually been sent. Either that or it is still sitting there waiting to be sent. You don't lose completed WU's unless you delete the Queue file (or actually tell F@H to delete it from the queue).

LOL, thanks again. I guess I will leave well enough alone.

I believe I will have my other comp up and running again within the hour so I will just run it as well.

Thanks.

I know, but sometimes by repeating the number, now and then and not just a link to the number, some members might then think, " I will try it too" untill they see lynx's and VB's scores of course..Perhaps there is a way of hiding them. :o

... Me myself, I know the number actually, it's 34905.

I'm installing it :D
but it seems that the setuppages are not the same as you posted maybe you have an older build?

{I}{K}{E}

How long does it take to do 1 part/section?
it all depends on the protein u are doing..if you are doing a simple protein then it doesnt take long time....usually a one WU takes 12hrz some times even TRIPLE THAT it also depends on your CPU the faster the better :D
(EVERY MHz COUNTS :) )

currently i hav P41.9GHZ OCED @ 2.10GHZ the WU im working on now is out of 600 and its going pretty fast itll get done in 12hrz...the one b4 was 400 and it took like a day or 2..

and one more thing if u turn off ur computer it continues WHERE YOU LEFT OFF...
so you dont hav to start all over again...

It's not the position you are in that's important...it's the fact that you're doing it...thats what's important!

This is great, the team is growing larger, every day... :)

yeah, i think it mainly relies on ghz. so a p43.2 will prob be better than a amd 3200.

ive had a few 5000 WU. :P

edit: inact ive got a 5000 unti now on my laptop.
