UK food eating challenge venues, view on map, suggest new ones

well i've just got back from the challenge at Big Ernie's. Sadly i didn't manage to eat all the food, but that was more to do with the taste of the burgers than anything, worst burgers i've ever tasted plus extremely dry. Perhaps that's part of the challenge though..

on the plus side the milkshake and ice cream were both delicious.

'Hot' food challenges like the Kismet and the Rupali are based around the food being too painful. Hadn't considered part of the challenge that the food is unpalatable!

yeah it was a shame really. I think i definitely would have done it if i wasn't fighting a gag reflex when eating the burger. The waitress thought i was going to do it but i just stopped bothering with about 15 mins left as i really didn't want to put any more of that burger in my mouth I wasn't full at all, i ate my ice cream dessert fine, and then ate my brother's for good measure

it was also more lettuce than anything on the plate, i ate all the lettuce at the start so i could gauge how much food there actually was, and without the lettuce, the burger was only about an inch tall including buns, i think they'd just shredded a couple of lettuce heaRAB and shoved them inside the buns to make it bigger.

it felt like a cheap challenge basically. These hungry-man challenges are supposed to be about whether you can eat a large amount of food in a small amount of time, not whether you can stomach eating something vile.

Also they didn't give out free soft drinks as per the site, just a glass of water, and they no longer offer half price if you finish within 1 hour.

Apparently he's starting a new challenge soon, the hottest chicken wings in the UK. Don't know much more about it than that, but i expect the website will have more details once it starts running.

Im currently on a weight loss and fitness regime just now.......... the worst thing I ever did was look at this thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want burger, steak, curry, pizza..........

Perhaps ,shock ! horror ! They just rely on good old word of "mouth" ?

It's a small pub , how many covers could they possible do in an evening ?

You could be right. The stats on pub closures doesn't indicate that the industry is particularly comfortable though. And I think having a crap website is worse than not having one at all.

I was going to post another challenge up but found the place has gone bust, shame as it was one of the hottest meals I have ever eaten.

Something like 6 pubs a day are closing in Britain at the moment

Check out the grill steakhouse in Pontypridd a 90oz burger!!!

It must be a Welsh thing, lol, but we do love our grub!

kylataff thanks but they're all on the map already except Buffalo Bills who make no mention of their challenge on their official (and current) website.

Not a restaurant challenge, but a friend set me a challenge the other day to eat 7 cheeseburgers. I tried for 8 but could only manage 7 burger and 1 & 1/2 fries
image

Bought 8 and an extra fries just in case.

1.5lb burger, fries, and 15 onion rings (and milkshake), and you get 45 mins to eat it? not much of a challenge. 15 mins is a challenge, 45 is all the time in the world!

the fact that it tastes like dog food and has at least 30 of your 5 a day in lettuce makes it a touch harder, not sure if that's specific to this burger or all theirs taste as bad, I won't be going back to find out that's for sure! Their record is 38 mins so i doubt it's as easy as you think

I reckon last year when I managed to FULL christmas roast dinners (and I mean full - 2 types of meat, 2 type os potatoes, 3 veg, sausagemeat stuffings, yorkshire puRAB, pigs in blankets - and thats just one plate) in a smidge over an hour, which included 15 mins of driving between houses, says otherwise Walk in the park

I managed a kfc mega bucket to myself at alton towers a few years back, I felt quite clever until I puked half of it back up in the car on the way home, whilst I was driving.

someone has managed to finish off the Kidz Breakfast, fair play to him
