Types of cartoons that should be brought back

What types of cartoons from the past, that we don't see anymore, that should be brought back?

A type of cartoon I would like to see make a comeback is a show in which characters from different already establish shows come together.

Shows like Laff A Lympics, Yogi's Tressure Hunt, Yogi's Space Race, etc. I am being realstic, I am not asking a show with Disney, Warner Bros., Fox, Nicktoons, etc. to all appear in one show. But for each studio and / or channel to have a show that puts a bunch of characters either in competiion show, a reality show parody, etc. I loved those Hanna Barbara shows especially Laff A Lympics because that brought the Yogi and friends universe and the Scooby and friends universe together.

Toon Disney sort of did a Laff A Lympics type thing this past summer with their summer time Toon Disney vs Jetix bumpers, using cut and paste animation, along with voice over dubbing, and using diologue from actual episodes of shows, and made it seem like it was about the competition. But that is hardly Laff A Lympics.

Cartoon Networks are doing some crossovers like the Grim Adventures Of Billy Mandy crossover with Codename: Kids Next Door, and their Invaded week stunt, maybe they could expand and do a show using a lot of established characters. Cartoon Network studio is connected with the people that brought us Laff A Lympics.

Hmm...I got nothing. Seriously I can't think of a type of cartoon that isn't already present somewhere in some form... unless you don't count Japan but that would be extremely arbitrary...

There's really nothing...well ...hmm...

now that I think about it there's a certain lack of 'cutesy critter' type show like My Little Pony and Carebears and Smurfs on TV anymore. There's also too much focus on normal kids in schools nowadays(one of my motto is: if it could be made as a Disney sitcom then why bother animating it? off course I can be proved wrong by exceptions)... even if they live whacky adventures I think kids deserve some good fantasy, and not just the hard hitting action adventure kind you now? Something like Teddy Ruxpin for exemple.

My favorite cartoons from the past that should be brought back are:

Capt. N. - really cool game series featuring some video game characters & worlds and Mother Brain was one grotesque-looking villain I've ever seen being from Metroid, but the best game villain ever.
Super Mario Bros. - I've always loved the game show along with playing the games which I loved the bad guys who were funny in it.
Zelda - I missed that game show besides the first two which that game show had good medieval/fantasy stuff and Link's excuuuuse me quotes can be annoying at times, but it's sad that they don't makes cool good shows about old video games anymore in the past.
Adventures of T-Rex - It was the best dinosaur show ever which the heroes were a cross between TMNT/Power Rangers fighting crime and with a city filled with dinosaurs which is interesting/awesome and The Chain Gang were the hottest reptile girls I've ever seen but were the coolest bad guys next to the snake brothers.
Duckman - That show was so funny before South Park/Family Guy with some toilet humor, Duckman was a ripoff of Daffy Duck who's got a nasty/foul mouth and Cornfed & those teddy bears Fluffy & Uranus were my favorite characters ever, and that part where Duckman always bashes on Fluffy & Uranus always crack me up all the time.
Twinkle the Dream Being - It's such an old good cartoon, but pretty cute/interesting which I find the main character Twinkle to be the cutest before Pikachu.
The Littlest Petshop - That show was pretty funny/interesting with comedy/humor involving little pets in a petshop with mischief.
The Tick - That show is the best/funniest of all superhero shows which the Tick,Arthur, & Sewer Urchin are my favorite superheroes & Chairface, El Seed, & Proto-Clown were my favorite supervillains ever.
Eek! The Cat - I totally miss that show which Eek! was one of the best funniest shows ever with lots of comedy/humor which Eek,Annabelle, & Sharky are my favorite characters ever.
Street Sharks - I used to always loved that show which is the best of all animal action shows involving sea creatures kicking butt which those sharks are the best next to Jabberjaw.
Ren & Stimpy - I've always loved that Nicktoon the best which was so hilarious with Ren & Stimpy were the most likable characters ever and the toilet humor was funny but gross which Nick actually got away with it by showing the toilet humor.

This topic is really about types of shows that aren't made anymore. Not individual shows that are off the air. For example, for the first two shows you listed, you could just have said they don't make shows about video games, and list them as examples. But okay, but let's try to stay on topic.

the "super-hero parody" with the recents version of FF, Batman, Spider-man, etc... it could be nice to revive "The Mighty Heroes" who was more dumb and clumsy

the "comedy teen" type, like TeenWolf

Definitely. We just don't see stuff like Freakazoid, The Tick, Earthworm Jim or Darkwing Duck anymore. Every superhero show these days seems so serious to me. Superhero parodies definitely need to make a comeback.

I kind of agree wiyh Zoombie. I would like another show like Laff a Lympics since I like crossovers and I would like those "Cutesy critters" type shows on again.

My suggestions:

- Cartoons with adult anthropomorphized animals: Yogi Bear, Bugs Bunny, Woody Woodpecker, etc. - type of shows about talking animals who're *adults*; it seems like most cartoons on now feature only humans, and when talking animals are shown, they're usually shown as children ("My Gym Partner's a Monkey", etc.).

- Related to the above: Cartoons with adult characters who aren't superheroes/action heroes/aimed at Fox or Adult Swim viewers. When I was a kid, carotons usually had mainly adult or teenage characters, with few kids; these days, it seems like the reverse is true. I don't think it'd kill kids to see cartoons with adults in them who aren't superheroes---plus with adult characters, there's a wider range of storylines available (and stuff you could do to the characters, like blow them up, etc.) then with characters who have a 9 PM bedtime and mostly hang out at a mall or school.

During the golden age of animation, cartoons used to take advantage of the fact that they WERE cartoons! Cartoons could do anything, and noone fully takes advantage of that anymore.

I'd just like to see some more decent comedy cartoons which aren't about superheroes or the adventures of a boy and his wacky animal companion and cartoons about kids in which the main setting isn't a school.

we said TYPE of cartoons, not specific serie. We'ren't you listening.

Beside we already got The Batman and the Legion of Superhero for all our DC superhero needs right now.

Definately that. I really miss the old "chase" cartoons where you can go AWOL on the locations, the comedy and having both pred and prey equally likeable. Also the classic silent comedy cartoons, ala "Tom and Jerry", where you can just watch the action instead of having it described to you.

And I like that "Laff-a-lympics" idea. We haven't seen a proper show like that since "House of Mouse". If CN were to do something like that, possibly using old and new characters, that would be praise indeed.
