No... I was sharing a bit of light on the actual specifics of how the loophole actually works.
If the app needs to use the TCP stack (whether on a BIS/BES, or using the carrier APN), it obviously won't work. This is true whether I'm using the Facebook App, midpssh, gcalsync, etc. Whether or not the Facebook application connects through RIM's servers / was developed by RIM is quite irrelevant, since if there's no TCP connection available, it won't work. That applies to -any- application requiring the mobile data service that is outside of the blackberry.net push and im apn. HTTP connections are fine with certain apps, as you know.
Yeah. And as I said to confirm... it's completely useless to us on the $15 unlimited plan. I'm not denying that.
I have read your tutorial. Before that, I had been following all the threads regarding it over on HoFo (I lurk there a bit more often than I lurk here on the stacks, especially after my 7280 died a few years ago ). I don't know why you're pointing me to read it, as it doesn't address how/why the loophole works, just how to take advantage of it (which is fine by me ).
I hope you didn't take offense to my post, since none was intended. As I said, it was just a FYI.
