trying to get creative on a subwoofer box and need some suggestions?

well i have a regular cab truck and obviously have very little room for subs but i love bass with my music. i built a box to fit behind the seat for one of my 10's but its only 1 cu.ft. and i want to put the other one in there but obviously there wouldnt be enough air volume. my idea was maybe i could cut a small hole, not so much a port just a small hole in the box so it can use more air without requiring a bigger box. would this work or am i just dreaming?
 
no. do not do that. one single 10" sub in a sealed enclosure needs about .75 - 1 cu. ft. air space. if you go ported then the volume then needs to increase to about 1.25-1.5 cu. ft. with a port diameter of about 3" with a total length of maybe about 10". just cutting a hole will throw the sub out of tune and would sound horrible.
My suggestion would be to build a box that is divided for two subs. making the box to fit the intended space. keep in mind each chamber needs about 1.25 cu. ft. air space. use the ports in the bottom of each chamber facing to the sides. you can find port tubes from crutchfield.com. you can also use DWV pipe for a cheaper alternative to ports
