Transformers 2

Oh I don't know about cold blood.

Big nasty robots hell bent on enslaving earth and using the planets natural resources to cause general mayhem on the galaxy is a good reason enough to finish off the Decepticons, no questions asked.

So how is defending Earth against murderous, hell bent robots now considered murdering in cold blood?

Plus I must have missed the part where he raped and slaughered Wheelie in cold blood given he was a Decepticon? :p

I had a feeling its not going to go well- mind you it will rake in the $.

For me as a general cinema goer and non trekkie (so no bias) Star Trek is still the best Big Budget Film of 09 so far. Haven't seen Transformers yet mind but i'm not holding my breath however you could say they are slightly related - studio, writers... its all about execution I suppose.

Hmm..there's several i can think of to be honest with you..

There are films where this kind of leering camerawork is suited.. A 12A isn't it..i'm amazed it got such a low rating to be honest..

I loved it. Just pure fun. Of course the film snobs will slate it for its "thin" plot and "wooden" acting, but it achieved what it wanted to. LoaRAB of noise, humour, Megan Fox for the men and Shia for the ladies. Enjoyable fun. Oscar worthy? Of course not. But a fun, enjoyable film? Hell yes.

Oh and I love Bumblebee.

My thoughts were that i came out of the cinema exhausted but entertained.

Plus points
Loved the comedy (Unlike most) Thought the parents Before egypt, where a highlight!! And the twins where nowhere near as annoying as made out to be!!!
Effects where outstanding, no issues on that
The first 1hr 45min was almost best summer blockbuster territory!!

Minus Points
I Have to admit the story kid kind of run all over the place!!

Egypt - again amazing effects however i would like to know who the hell the robots are instead of 12 random robots who ironically didnt transform during the entire movie??

And i though the end was kinda anti climatic, as an hour of total warfare only for the
the fallen to be beaten in a matter of seconRAB???

However in the end of the day the second title credit at the beginning of the movie said it all!! "based on the toyline from hasbro" and for them to put together what they did deserves alot of credit instead of the seemingly pointless negativity around the movie and its director!!

Transformers 2 is exactly what you want you want from a brainless actioner - giant robots beating the crap out of each other

Mr Bay if you do direct the 3rd installment - just remake the 1986 cartoon movie!! It will close it of nicely, and make sure stan bush "the Touch" plays in bumblebee for at least 30 seconRAB!!!

In defence of those that hated it (myself included) I really don't think it's "film snobbery" - many people really liked the first one, but thought this one was terrible.

We didn't want oscar worthy, we just wanted a good Transformers film - which many of use felt we simply didn't get.

The forest fight is amazing. Had the feel of the comic.
I liked the theme of "people with options"; that those who have a choice often choose cowardice.
Starscream's line about cowardice was great.
Optimus Prime is much more baddass. Cullen was great.
Jetfire was hilarious.
Soundwave was cool; actually true to the spirit of the character in that he observes and manipulates.

The Transformers' dialogue was on the whole much better, they should speak exactly as humans do, that's the whole point of the characters, and this film got that whereas the previous film did not.

And it actually acknowledged the British army much more than Hollywood war films do.

I'm not down on the whole Bayformers thing, but I've been to see this film..........twice.

Sure it might not be the best film ever, but it met my expectations and in some instances surpassed them. As a big Geewunner, and a rabid hater of Bay and the Bayformers franchise, I actually enjoyed this flick. :p

Even the bastard children of Jar Jar Binks and Johnny 5, Skidz and Mudflap entertained me. I was actually gutted when Mudflap was sucked into Devastator.

Good film.

I hated Sam meeting the dead Prime's, because it was yet another example of the story revolving around the human characters.
The All-Spark turning things into robots is stupid; only Transformers can be given life by the All-Spark/Creation Matrix.

The star of the film should be Optimus Prime, not Shia Lebeouf. Its the equivalent of adapting Harry Potter and making Hagrid the main character.

We could have had a film which entertained and also broke new ground by having fully characterised robots as the main characters in a film, instead what we get is "playing it safe" by sticking the humans at the front and the TFs only appearing when Bay wants to blow stuff up or make stupid jokes.

Hollywood can't seem to portray robots as anything other than pets or killing machines, apparently robots with emotions and personalities like you and me is beyond the imagination of Spielberg and Bay.

The concept at the heart of Transformers has been explored brilliantly in the comics. The range of characters is immense, and the stories that you can build around them are limitless.
The forest battle showed what can be achieved when action (and being able to see it) and emotion are combined.

What the hell?!?! there is no better looking chick ;)

There was also plenty of story, just because you didnt like it or couldnt follow it, doesnt negate it.

Prime didn't kill anyone in the cartoon. Ever.

In fact the cartoon was pretty low on violence.

I'm now going to put too much thought and effort this...but....

The Transformers are at war and war doesn't tend to be particularly nice - so it follows that Prime would also do some not particularly nice things.

His motto has always been 'Freedom is the right of all sentient beings'. The Decepticons threaten the freedom of the humans, so it makes sense that Prime would use extreme prejudice to deal with them.

The consensus seem to be that Bay has dropped an absolute bollock and the franchise is for now ruined!

Bay has got his hanRAB on Nightmare on Elm Street next. Bang goes another another 80's bit of pop culture ruined by Bay's ego and lack of creativity.

Just got back from watching this & I gotta say that I was impressed. I loved the first film & love the 2nd even more, those who saw the original 80's cartoon Transformer movie will appreciate certain aspects of Transformers 3.

I will def get the bluray of this when it gets released :D
