Trailer, Hitch, and Harness advice needed

Hi all - Love the site.... have been an avid reader (lurker?) for months, but I'm popping my "1st post" cherry with this...

I need some enlightenment - I'm planning to get a trailer for my '07 Ultra for some long trips I have planned. Have Stage 1 kit w/SE performance tuner installed, as well as the oil temp fairing gague & an oil cooler, so I hope any possible power &/or oil issues are addressed. A Stage 2 kit may be installed this winter - but only of the dealer offers it at 25% off like they did last winter... anyhow...

I have spoke with a gentlemen (who seemed relatively sane) who pulls a Fibroconcept Cruiser XL trailer & uses the Kuryakyn hitch & Plug&Play HD harness installed. No reported issues, and he said the P&P harness was nice becasue it allowed him to put the trailer plug-in up underneath his Tour-Pak attached behind the license plate on the plate/Tour Pak support bracket to keep it hidden and away from elements & road spray (is this something that should be a consideration?).

I currently have a line on a virtually new Cruiser XL trailer loaded for half the msrp of just over $4100CDN.

Before I pull the trigger on the trailer deal, I was hoping to get some experienced advice and insight about both the trailer (pros/cons), and the Kuryakyn gear...

Thanks in advance for any and all info you can give...

As far as the fibro concept trailer is concerned. I have a friend who's pulled his twice to Alaska from Toronto, once to California as well as lots of other shorter trips.
I've followed him a lot and the trailer tows straight and true and I've never seen a wobble in it at all (my friend doesn't get into weight distribution etc).

The trailer has held up really really well too.

As far as the kuryakyn plug and play it works well but be advised that it won't like it if you have the harley set up where your turn signals become running and brake lights.

I'm not sure what kind of plug is on the fibro concept trailer but if it's a 4 pin flat, make sure you buy the kuryakyn 5 into 4 convertor because the kuryakyn plug and play harness doesn't like any other make of converter (I learned this the hard way).

As far as hitches go, I ordered an MC hitch and am very pleased with the price and the ease of installation. Here are some links for you.

Kuryakyn wiring: The 7669 converter is the one that works with the harness if the trailer is a 4 pin flat.

Thanks to you both... I think I'm sold on the McHitch.. have found several others who are extremely happy with theirs... also glad to hear the Fibro trailer was "well behaved" on that long trip... So far, I've got an almost $5000CDN Fibro Cruiser XL trailer with pretty much all the accessories and covers down to $2500CDN, which seems like a good deal to me....

The trailer is a 2007 - has about 500km on it, and was stored under the dust cover after its one and only trip... has every conceivable option, alloy wheels, etc... seems too good to be true... it will be worth the "domestic" that is likely to occurr when I "forget" to ask for permission to buy it....

Looks like you may be in the doghouse for not asking.

Maybe you can sleep in the trailer. It's 24 cubic feet so if it's too short, your better half will cut off your legs so you'll fit.

runamuck... we must be related somehow in the distant past! That statement "At times, it is far easier to beg forgiveness than it is to ask for permission" are words I live by both at home and at work! In considering wrongway's point of view, I'll have to determine what will take less time - healing after the leg removal, or the time I will need to convince "the boss" we need it... considering that she rides her own '04 Ultra and loves taking long trips, it might be an easy sell....
