Because BP has no incentive to stop the oil leak. They're most likely looking at bankruptcy protection and the $75,000,000 punitive damage cap so they don't really have anything to gain by stopping it.
yea, that's probably due to development and/or sea level rise. I'm not saying you won't lose marshland, you probably will. I'm just saying that marshes tend to quickly recover from oil spills.
The last line of defense is the BOP. That rubber that was found came from the annular seal in the BOP. Go to cbsnews.Com or maybe it's CBS.com and look for the 60 minutes section.
