so where in that big operation is the old rig that sank?

anyone know how far it drifted? how come no pics/videos of the sunken rig itself?

BP has been able to measure the pressure on the lower portion of the well’s blowout preventer (BOP) and found that it was “considerably lower” than would be expected if the flow was rushing unimpeded to the surface, he said.

Shit like this pisses me off and makes me think they are hiding shit. Why not release the pressure numbers? This is the single most important number in determining if the top kill will work

it is a mud solution... yes ACTUAL mud.

it is more dense than oil so they can pump more down there and get passed the oil. Once they have the pressure met and held, they can inject and pump in concrete to patch and plug the well.

I don't get how they think that mud won't go up the BOP as well as down, and just leak into the sea like the oil is doing? They must be praying ithe heavy mud + "junk" is going to seal itself.

meh, regardless, it is time to go have a few beers myself.

I hope headway can be had and things can continue on moving on in the correct direction.

The marshes will most likely bounce back. Studies have shown that plant life reestablishes itself after about 4 years. No difference in plant life between oiled plots and control plots. They also studied biomass and something else which showed no significant difference. That being said, this is a much larger oil spill than the one studied and they didn't touch at all on how the animal life responded.

MI Swaco, a subsidiary of Schlumberger had a couple people killed. I would have thought if they knew something was fucked they would have ordered all the MIS guys off too.
