How does it make you feel knowing that Obama is cozy in his house enjoying his family, having a nice dinner while the people in LA are suffering?

According to wolframalpha, it's 2167.637 psi for 5000 feet of water

All of you idiots that are saying "just do XX" are morons. Do you really think you're smarter than the people working on trying to fix this? DRILL A RELIEF VALVE. IT WORKED BEFORE ITLL WORK AGAIN. DUH.

They have been. The first of two relief wells is at over 12,000 feet drilled.

You don't know how to write a letter? I guess that's not surprising, given how much of an ignorant cunt you are

not from what the interview of the engineer on the rig said. he said the BP guy was trying to speed up the process.

I think you misinterpreted what I said. I understand that a quick fix is non existent.

Yea that should hold an oil rig pretty well Not to mention two guys just sinking to the bottom of the ocean vs actual manipulation

I was wondering more about the pressure at the ocean's surface (5K feet) due to the water.

On those kind of distance scales, you have to take into account a non-uniformity of density

ohhhh well fucking shit we're all on the same page then

i'm just talking about external pressures...

i'd hope the BOPs are rated for absolute insane internal pressures, who knows the kind of conditions they encounter on the inside.

super high internal pressures + unusually high (compared to other wells) external pressures = shit fucks up?

no idea but... yeah.
