I agree with this; regulation of certain things (such as oil production) is there, but when enforcement is weak, what's the point.
As for the "President", this has been going on since before 2000. And even if a particular Chief Executive were serious about it, the people doing the inspection/monitoring/enforcement can still blow it by being bought.
Government isn't very good at not being corrupt. And corporations are untrustworthy (illustrated by BP and others)...so who ya gonna call?
