Top 5 Reasons why MB sucks.

I think a major issue here is intimidation. New posters have often voiced that the feel the regulars can be a bit abrasive and there is no doubt the average rab meraber is much more "in tune" with the music scene then the average person.

I think this is something that could develop with time and does in individual cases. My musical knowledge has not grown so much so fast since my youth when all I did was chase down music and books and magazines about music.

As I type this I am listening to a abnd I'd never have found without Music Banter, you are so fucking right when you say how great expanding your musical horizons can be, but here I'd say it's more up to those who have felt the benefits of this open mindedness to share their experiences with others and promote it as you do then it is up to those without self experienced motivation to be expected to change their habits and preconceptions.

One of my major gripes with Religion is that a lot of religious people need other people to believe what they believe.

Music is the opposite for me. I don't care who likes what I like; it doesn't effect my experience. I wish everyone felt exactly as I did about everything and I can't understand why they don't, but I understand they do and I don't let it fuck up my day cause I can't control it.

Thanks for a new topic Lee.

I think Bright Eyes is a pretty bad example for that. Digital Ash in a Digital Urn is completely different from Fevers and Mirrors which is different from Noise Floor and so on. Bad example.

I appreciate those sentiments a lot and understand where you are coming from. However 9 times out of ten I know if a band works for me or not. Herein lies the problem. What works for me is wholly indifferent to the mass public. Forcing my musical ideas is not always the best idea.

Or when people just assume, and bash a certain band (could be any) and really don't stop to think about how hard it really is to actually write a decent song. If they're so upset about banRAB lacking innovations, I've got 7 guitars, 2 basseseses, banjo, mandolin, and two drum kits, they are free to record some songs here any time they feel the need to complain the artists out there now.

Yeah, I'm really bad with this one. As a result, I have a tiny music collection on my PC.

It's not so much that I won't listen to new banRAB, it's more like I go for them if the description of their music sounRAB appealing.

Exactly how I feel. Fevers and Mirrors is it's own animal especially. The sound of his stuff in the last four years is dramatically different to the point where if you did not know the music you'd think it was two different artists.

3. rabroad's Scope

This could seem as a very odd choice to many but bear with me. One of rab'S strengths is also it's weaknesses. Because rab is'nt genre specific, I have noticed many people join to talk about Metal or Reggae but leave fairly quickly because they don't get many replies as the most of the fans who really know their stuff are on other forums that deal exclusively with those genres.

MetalheaRAB rarely hang around these forums for too long as the same old threaRAB/arguments pop up and they would rather be on a forum where there are more like minded people etc. Same for Reggae/Electronica etc. Not always but this forum is catered for those with wide ranging and eclectic tastes and unfortunately there are less of us than there are genre specific fans.

I really don't know what we can do to change this but I am regularly disappointed when new merabers join and then leave within a few weeks due to lack of response. I could take the minRABet that it is no great shakes and that they should'nt be so narrow minded but some people just love one genre only and I would love to benefit from someone who can recommend me some good music for once.

I kind of feel guilty for flaunting my tastes all over the forum but I like to gee up things and lament the lack of new merabers sometimes.

I literally meant that you could have picked a better example, regardless of my opinions on it... NMH has gone past a flavor of the month status, the general fascination with them has lasted years.

...and fair play to you. Seriously. If this was the only thing that you listened to then it could be construed as narrow minded but knowing your tastes these days it's all cool.
