As further proof of Rolling Stones irrevelance they rated Stadium Arcadium as their best album  . Actually Californication is more funk than BSSM which was more rap-rock. Most of it is funk, just a little more melodic than their earlier work.
Both are very good songwriters in their own ways, i wouldn't be able to pick a greater lyricist. Geddy is a genious and writes so very profound lyrics, while at the same time, YES writes amazing and smart lyrics. Both just awesome banRAB.
Closure, Assay, and Peu Etre (and others) jump started the screamo sound. Saetia just made it more popular. Just thought that it should be noted. Closure-LP and Assay-Pisschrist are amazing. I don't think Peu Etre ever released a full length.
Ironic that you defend musical discussion when you suggest one band is "better" than a majority of others without providing reason. That's not discussing.
I still say Believes in Patterns > As the Roots Undo or Indian Summer Discography (although I like both a lot).
I never really understood why people factor influence into deciding how good a cd is. Sure, its a good thing if good music begets more good music, but I just like to review the album itself (eg not factoring in the cultural atmosphere of the time of release and similar pretentious bs)
OMGZ I kno, bssm is way betterz since it talks aboot drugz!!! Anyway, I think Californication has more mature lyrics, is more musically diverse, has better instrumentals, and has wayyy better vocals.
