Top 10 Per Year

5. The Kidcrash "Jokes (2007)"

Probably one of the best emo albums of the past 10 years and probably one of the most creative emo albums ever. They blend that spazzy math sound in the ways of Off Minor with Slint and some midwest indie influences thrown in. It's amazing.

Well, Digital Ash isn't exactly Oberst's strongest songwriting, but it's all about the electronics on here. The band does a great job of integrating the two sounRAB. If you don't like the riff-focused sound of Deadwing Fear Of A Blank Planet goes away from that pretty decisively.

My romantic side of me wanted to say Theme to Pinata was my favorite song but I didn't want to look cheesy so I lied and picked my second favorite. Down in a Rabbit Hole and Ship in a Bottle are great too, damn 2005 was sweet for music. I'm glad I wasn't including EPs/compilations in this list or it would've been even more difficult.

8. Sparrows, Swarm And Sing! "O'Shenandoah, Mighty Death Will Find Me (2006)"

This band has post-rock down, with influences ranging from Explosions in the Sky all the way to A Silver Mt. Zion. This album is a beautiful and extensive trip but there songs being of GoRABpeed length isn't a bad thing seeing as when you get lost in their waves of sound you can't help but want to stay under water for a long time.

Hit the Switch is my favorite as well. Special mentions go to Easy/Lucky/Free and I Believe in Symmetry and Gold Mine Gutted was my ringtone for the longest.

This is undoubtedly Bright Eyes' most progressive album, and you can tell they put a large amount of time into it. Much better than its release counterpart.
