Hmm interesting. Makes me wanna go out and rent some of these aforementioned movies.
1. [Pirates of the Caribbean] Both of them. I love the character development and interaction in the movies. The special/visual effects are mind-blowing, especially in DMC. The storylines are interesting. And the humor's just awesome. For someone who isn't into Johnny Depp, unlike the rest of the world , Johnny is pretty damn hot as Jack Sparrow. Totally surpassed my expectations when I first heard about the movies being based off the Disneyland ride. Hell, I enjoy the movies so much that I don't even notice the over 2-hour runtime for each movie.
2. [Crash] Ahh one of the few dramas I enjoyed, given that I'm an action/adventure fan. Loved the anti-stereotyping message behind the movie and how all the various plots within the movie come together and serve that point. Terrence Howard is just awesome. And I was a pretty big Ryan Phillippe fan back in my teeny-bopping days, so it was good seeing him again.
3. [The Fast & The Furious] I hate it when people complain about how the movie lacked depth and acting talent; it's an action movie about cars/racing, dammit. And I love action and cars. I even managed to like every single character in the movie. Paul's Brian was the loyal, good guy. Vin's Dominic was the badass with heart. And even Rick's Johnny was likeable to a degree, mostly for the garage scene in which he forced oil into some guy's mouth, which I found to be pretty hot.
4. [Batman Begins] Only the best comic-book adaptation ever for one of my favorite superheros. The movie finally did Bats some justice after the previous movie debacles. Plus, Christian Bale is just awesome, so it's great that he's finally getting recognition.
5. [Ocean's Eleven] Clever, witty movie with a superb cast. Finally, a movie in which the 'bad guy' thiefs really weren't bad guys.
6. [Se7en] As mentioned earlier, great thriller with innovative murders.
7. [Training Day] I like violence in movies. I like Denzel in movies. What a great combination of both.
I'm just sick and enjoy stuff like twisted cops and people getting tortured on the big screen.
8. [The Lion King, A Time to Kill] Two totally different movies. Former, my favorite movie growing up so I can't give that up now. Loved the story. Loved Simba. Hated Mufasa's death; I think that was the first and only time I've ever cried during a movie. The latter, best John Grisham-adaptation movie ever. The storyline was provocative, and the acting was great. Samuel L. Jackson's the man. And from what I've seen of Matthew McConaughey in this movie, he is sorely underused with his chick flicks.
9. [Brian's Song, Remember the Titans] I love football, and both are great football movies with substance. The story of Brian Piccolo was heart-wrenching, especially given how unlikeable Brian was during the first half of the movie. And the latter's a light-hearted movie with a heart-warming message and outcome.
10. [Romeo Must Die] Good action movie with generally great casting. Too bad Jet Li's kind of hard to understand, but his ass-kicking skills make up for it. Aaliyah did a good job, and it's a shame her career and life ended so abruptly. But like I mentioned earlier, I have a thing for bad guys, and both Isaiah Washington and Russell Wong were phenomenal.
