Toonzone's Top 25 Anime Nominations

1. Cardcaptor Sakura- I'm not going to lie about this one. Though very childish, it made me fall in love with the cuteness and some-what new take on Magical Girl.

2. Kanon 2006- Kyoto Animation most certainly suprised me with this one, starting out with a light-hearted story. The drama-filled ending left me with a "What the heck just happened?" and a keyboard soaked with tears.

3. Azumanga Daioh- All humor, all the time...and it never gets old. (For me at least.) With the one of the cutest characters ever, Chiyo, and the fun-filled comedy, it deserves a spot.

4. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya- THIS is the biggest "O_O" right after Higurashi. I watched the episodes in Brodcast Order first, and I'm glad I did. My favorite character in anime history, comedy, sci-fi, drama, and not so obvious romance. One of my favorites.

5. Fruits Basket- Really light hearted Romance-Comedy anime. I fell in love from the start, not to metion it was one of the first series I ever watched.

(I'm just going to list the rest because I'm lazy like that...)

6. K-ON
7. Code Geass
8. Ouran High School Host Club
9. Paniponi Dash
10. Munto (aka. Sora wo Miageru Shoujo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai)

Honorable Mentions:
Elfen Lied, Air, Spiral, Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun, Lucky Star, Full Moon, Fullmetal Alchemist

This was a very hard list...

I feel guilty about voting before seeing Hellsing and Monster, as I'm told those are great shows. This is, however, the way it has to be.
Moreover, I don't like lists. Mainly because I can't decide and am always changing my mind. But, as it were...

1. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
2. Cowboy Bebop
3. Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal
4. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
5. Death Note
6. Berserk
7. Code Geass
8. Bacanno
9. Trigun
10. Azumanga Daioh

(I hope I'm not forgetting something that would have changed the list.)

1. I suppose one could argue nostalgia as the reason for me making this nuraber one... but it's my vote, so
Also, I know I'm splitting the Miyazaki vote by nominating Nausicaa over Mononoke, but I'm trying to be honest with my vote. Nausicaa is the superior film in my opinion. Sorry.

2. It's 26 episodes of awesomeness. The characters are all great. The writing, directing, and voice acting are very well done. The ending is fantastic. You guys should know this. Why should I explain?

3. It would be higher on the list if it weren't for the many plot holes and moments of terrible dialogue - nonetheless, the tragedy and emotion of it all, especially its beginning and its end, still put this anime on my top three.

4. It's Full Metal Alchemist - only better! (Why couldn't the first one have followed the manga?) The show still has a long way to go, so it's kind of hard for me to decide where it should go on the list. Who knows? Maybe one day it'll be even higher. But from what I've seen so far, this is where it belongs.

5. It's the ultimate cat and mouse game. And I love the premise. Not to mention the Pagan undertones - I love Paganism! (That is to say, intellectually. I'm not Pagan, but I do find it fascinating.)

6. Great characters, tragic story, all written and directed very well. Too bad it ended when it did, but there's always hope for future OAVs.

7. There's a lot wrong with this show. A lot. It's too melodramatic, there's way too much unnecessary fanservice, and I hate many of the characters - yet I love the show. I can't explain why, I just know that I do. And who cares if the show isn't good? It's great entertainment.

8. Great characters (for the most part), great premise, good writing. I'm debating if this should be 7 instead of 8. I'm still not sure.

9. It has its dull moments (mainly in season 1). But when this show is good... WOW. I don't want to spoil anything, so all I'll say is the last four episodes alone put this show on the list.

10. It's a show about Japanese high school girls. I'm not into that genre. But the characters are so lovable, and the writing is so clever, it's impossible not to love this show.

Honorable mention: Cromartie High for the lols.

Well, that's my list.
I don't like it. I'll probably change my mind about it tomorrow, but that's what it is right now, so that's how I'm voting.

P.S. It's a shame Avatar: The Last Airbender can't be put on the list, but I understand.

1.Monster
2.Death Note
3.Cowboy Bebop
4.Gungrave
5.Dragon Ball (no Z and of course not Gt)
6.Neon Genesis Evangelion
7.Basilisk Kouga Ninpou Chou
8.Black Lagoon
9.Bokurano
10.Yu Yu Hakusho

So there it is.
1. I just love it, if 20th century had an anime It will be tied with this one.
2-4. No particular order for those just like them a lot, the plot, the animation, etc.
5. I just grow up with that one, if you still like something now that you liked when you where 4 it gotta be good.
6. If I watch it again, I might like it more, I love the end.
7.After watching Naruto this one its what you need if your looking for a more mature ninja story, not taking away the super abilities they have.
8.It was just a hell of a ride that series, I hope they do more.
9.It some series can make me almost cry, it gotta be good, those poor children, I would not like to be in their position.
10.For me to like a shonen series at this point of my life, it make it more great, yeah I just saw it, thanks for the abridged series that made me give it a try.

I would have put others but those I just read the manga, such as Berserk (thanks rabroadi2k), Gantz, Hellsing, Claymore.

1. Cowboy Bebop
2. Ghost in the Shell (count towarRAB the version with the most votes)
3. Haibane Renmei
4. Record of Lodoss War (original)
5. Now and Then, Here and There
6. Serial Experiments Lain
7. Claymore
8. Evangelion
9. Berserk
10. Ergo Proxy

Reason: I like them.

Seriously, if anyone is actually interested in why I chose a certain title just ask I'd be happy to discuss, otherwise I'm leaving it at this because I'm lazy.

1.Dragonball
2.Case Closed
3.Claymore
4.Black Lagoon
5.Dr. Slump (It may not have a US dub YET, but it still rocks!)
6.Trinity Blood
7. Slayers
8.xxxHolic
9.Eureka Seven
10. Soul Eater

I think this list has e decen balance of old & new series.

My choices have been slightly modified since I originally posted them. This is the "official" list.

1. Cowboy Bebop

Forget all about the comparisons people make. This is the best anime available. A stellar English dub. Incredible animation, excellent and offbeat music. But most importantly, a heart and soul that no anime before or since had been able to match. It's just an amazing and incredible watch, no holRAB barred and always entertaining and mesmerizing.

2. Fullmetal Alchemist

CB with a ending that isn't as good, to be honest. Until the final couple of episodes that insert a major "WTF" factor into everything, this anime is every bit as good as Cowboy Bebop, always entertaining, always soulful. The mediocre, confusing ending shouldn't prevent you from watching this series (and the movie that does tie up some loose enRAB). Not when the ride to get there is so great.

3. Haibane Renmei

A non-action show that not only holRAB my attention for its entire run, but steals my heart, deserves a spot this high. Haibane Renmei is so thoroughly unlike the anime I usually watch but is so special I don't really care. It's fantastic. And based off of a doujinshi of all things. Nobody makes anime like this anymore, which is another reason why its so special, it's from a bygone era, the tail end of anime's golden age of 1996-02.

4. Gurren Lagann

This show hooked me the moment Kamina screamed "Just who the hell do you think I am?" in episode 2. It's just an incredible ride that doesn't make a lot of sense but you don't care because it's just so great, with some of the best animation I've seen PERIOD. Plus it enRAB with robots throwing galaxies at each other. GALAXIES. C'mon, tell me you don't want to see that.

5. Gundam 00

This is the Gundam I've always wanted. For once, this Gundam tries to take place in a plausible reality, without any of the "Star Wars"-esque trappings that I always felt limited Gundam's relevance. No plot holes, grounded character, and great use of politics and conspiracies. The result is the best non-Tomino Gundam, and possibly one of the greatest Gundam series period.

6. Kino's Journey

I really think this show should be ranked higher, I don't know how it fell so low. Maybe it's because it drags a little bit in spots. Anyway, it's still great, great stuff from beginning to end. Nobody makes series like this one anymore either, its truly unfortunate, we need another show like Kino to show us how to make something special in storytelling and characterization.

7. Eureka Seven

This is the first of the "flawed" shows to make it. I love E7. I really do. But it's flawed, I can't deny it. It drags a bit early on and Renton and Eureka, the main protagonists, start off a bit one-note. But if you're willing to stick with the series after its "growing pains" (unfortunately all the "growing pains" are in the greatest OP/ED of the series, "DAYS" and "Secret Base"), you will be rewarded with greatness. An awesome soundtrack and surprising originality is the icing on the cake.

8. Yuyu Hakusho

The series' animation has NOT aged well but that shouldn't stop anybody from watching this series. This is how you do shonen fighting series. Pure and simple. No filler, no crap, no annoying side characters. Just insert characters who interact well with each other with smarter-than-expected plotting and you get this. The best SJ title ever.

9. Last Exile

The series has a bland protagonist but the visuals still don't disappoint nearly a decade after its original broadcast in Japan. GONZO went all out for this series. The steampunk atmosphere is still awe-inspiring and has some truly amazing plotting. It sturables a bit near the end but contains perhaps GONZO's best ending, and a twist that will shock you but will still satisfy you.

10. Now and Then, Here and There

How did this series get so low? I wonder what made me rank it this low. Maybe it's because Shu as a protagonist is somewhat aggravating. Maybe it's because the series gets so heartbreaking at times it's borderline unwatchable. You will be stunned emotionally by this series. Guaranteed. Do not marathon this, you will be depressed. Guaranteed. But you still have to see it. It's still great stuff, by the director of Fruits Basket, believe it or not.

That's it from me.

Well, when the first series came out, there were only, like....4 or 5 volumes of the manga out at the time, and it was still really early on in its story-line. For what its worth, I personally think that the 1st series did a great job of adapting the series into an anime with so little source material to work with at the time. Of course, I do agree that Brotherhood is better, but that's mostly because I have always preferred the manga's story line, partly due to the fact that its the version which got me into FMA to begin with (I actually didn't watch the anime too much back when it airedo n AS, and instead did a marathon of the whole entire 1st FMA anime series with a friend of mine over the course of just 3 days).

1. Neon Genesis Evangelion
2. Fullmetal Alchemist
3. Death Note
4. Monster
5. Yu Yu Hakusho
6. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
7. FLCL
8. Samurai Champloo
9. Ouran High School Host Club
10. Paranoia Agent

How is it really any different? Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z are the same story. It's really best to watch it in order. It may be distributed differently but it really is the same thing.

1. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (and Kai, but not Rei)
2. Cowboy Bebop (the movie, too)
3. Black Lagoon (and Second Barrage)
4. Baccano!
5. Neon Genesis Evangelion (and End of Evangelion)
6. Full Metal Panic! (all of it, but especially Second Raid)
7. Excel Saga
8. Trigun
9. Ghost In The Shell (all of it. yes, even Innocence, which I LOVED)
10. Monster

Well, they're not really the same. Dragonball is a comedy with action elements and DBZ is an action show with comedic elements. There are many who vastly prefer one over the other or don't like the other one at all.

You would also have to include DBGT, to be fair.

Unlike other seasons of shows which are pretty much the same thing with a slightly different title. IMO, those ones should be lumped together, not DB/DBZ/DBGT.

Yeah, seriously. Take episode 153 of Dragon Ball, cut the opening/ending/eyecatches (and do the same with the first episode of DBZ) and have a newbie view 'em. They'll thinking it's the same show.

*Martial arts gag adventures, not 'action'.

*Cough*

I could argue Mobile Suit Gundam and Zeta Gundam, Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED Destiny. The time skip is the same or even shorter than Dragonball to Z.

Unless letting the Dragonballs corabine allows Zeta and 0079 to count together

Bleh, looks Gurren Lagann's already got a definite place in the top 10. Anyway....

1. Princess Mononoke
2. Red Garden
3. Air Gear
4. Death Note
5. Now and Then, Here and There
6. Grave of the Fireflies
7. Clannad After Story
8. Peacemaker Kurogane
9. Canaan(Not a typo--not trying to say Clannad.)
10. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

Wow....I'm not even sure if that's the definite order I would want them to be in, but I know Mononoke's first. I think the rest of the 1st 5 may need a bit of change as well as the final 5, but hell, this is my submission. Kinda funny how totally inconsistent in anime type my list is, though.....>.> I judge by sheer enjoyment, nothing else.

Boy, I was being lazy, I didn't even bother nurabering them....jeez! Yes, in order from top to bottom(1-10). I will go back and edit, sorry.

Does this rule mean I have to count Pokemon as 3 different series or all one? Since they call the Kanto/Orange/Johto arcs Pokemon, Hoenn is Advance Generation, and Sinnoh Diamond and Pearl. Also I would like a clarification if movies count or not.

1) Gundam Wing
2) Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG
3) Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
4) Cowboy Bebop
5) DragonBall Z
6) Full Metal Alchemist
7) Neon Genesis Evangelion
8) InuYasha
9) Tenchi Universe
10) Digimon: Digital Monsters
