Well, this is roughly my top ten, but something tells me some people won't like mine, but whatever, it's a bit different:
1. Dragonball Z - Oh come on, it's not hard to say I loved this show when I was younger, it was the truly definition of an anime series, and as somebody who isn't that interested in much mainstream anime now, maybe it's because DBZ just can't be topped.
2. Pokemon - The original series will always be awesome, the current epiaosdes are also okay, but I realize the first series is better, and of course, it got me in the games.
3. Kanon - Heartwarming, a bit sad, and even a little humor. Anime are kinda shy of that, maybe because they might never beat the way Kanon's did all three. It's really well-made, it's not too sad, or too dark, it's just what a drama should be, just right.
4. Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo - This is one of those series where your mind will just have to accept how nonsentical the humor is in this show. Too bad it had to end prematurely, but watching all of the episodes might never get old.
5. Kanamemo - This could be a controversial choice, I know, since it came out this year, but this anime is really that funny! Is there any other comedy anime that has really great dioalogue, and even a muscial episode to boot? Well, look no further.
6. When They Cry - If it's on a seperate series, then it's second season, Kai. A lot of people like the first season just for the blood and gore, which kinda made the first season itself kinda of an uncomfortable experience for me. However, when Kai was released, there was more plot and it got fun understanding the mysteries surrounding the town, although fans were disappointed in season 2, I mostly liked it for that season. Season 1 was okay, but seeing characters killed really made me that uncomfortable.
7. Pani Poni Dash - Another comedy, of course, but it technically has two kinRAB of humor; it's zaniness, and the multiple shout outs to cultureal references such as movies, tv shows, and other anime. And, of these anime of my list, I also vote this one for best animation, because of how colorful it is.
8. Lucky Star - Sorta similar to PPD, except it pretty much explores more, and is more on the "development" side, with the characters, and it did have some annoyances, but they were mostly passable as I enjoyed how cultural Japan is because of this show.
9. Death Note - As soon as I heard the concept, I immediately wasnted to watch this because of how awesome it sounded, and while usually I don't like darker series, this worked simply because it's meant to and that it was really entertaining.
10. K-On - Another controversial one (just like Kanamemo, it was released this year), and while BECK was okay, I think K-On was the more suitable show. Think of this show being similar to Josie and the Pussycats or Jem, except Japan made it, and I pretty much knew this was gonna be a hit as soon as I saw the promos, and I was right, and I enjoyed it.
Honorable mentions:
Azumanga Daioh - I know, I can't believe I didn't put this show in the top 10, but comparing this to other sllice-of-life shows shows that back then, this was popular, but of course, other better concepts of slice-of-life shows showed up, but I'll always know Azumanga as the "first" slice-of-life show, the only problem is that it sorta surpassed it's prime, but it's still enjoyable anyways.
Gurren Lagann - I wish I could've seen all the episodes, but think about it; I only saw about 8 episode of this show and it's at least on the honorable mention? That's still pretty good, and at least I was able to understand what was going on, so I wasn't too lost. Basically, if you see any episode of this show, you'll basically understand it in a heartbeat.
Bleach - Kind of a guilty pleasure, kind of a personal favourite of mine, it's action feels DBZ-ish, except with weapons, but if it wasn't for it's MMCD (Massive Multiple Character Dissorder), it would've been a little more enjoyble, because remerabering characters names is prtty hard.
Hidamari Sketch - This has very interesting pacing, as you need to watch both seasons carefully to fully understand, but if you're not a fan of that, then no problem, like Gurren Lagann, you'll understand this series pretty fast, although there is oneepisode in season 2 that involves as a "prequel" to one episode in season one, but it's not too important.
Koihime Musou - As a follower of the Romance Of The Three Kingdoms novel, I knew I was gonna like this (I was already a fan of the Dynasty Warriors games), and it turns out I was right, even if it is a little gimmicky, the series worked out for the best.
