Toonzone Talkback - "Clannad" and More To Be Dubbed by Seraphim Digital

The news just broke via Sentai Filmworks' twitter. Confirmed shows are Clannad (not After Story just yet), Ghost Hound, LegenRAB of the Dark Kings (that Fist of the North Star side story), Blue Drop, and Tears to Tiara. Some dubs are reportedly already finished; others are still ongoing.

This is obvious good news for fans of the shows and those hoping that the former ADV would eventually show signs of getting back on its feet. Here's hoping all this pays off.

Also noteworthy is this message of appreciation to fans:

For good measure, an official press release was published on the Anime Network website here.

...and to edit in more details, the press release confirms that they're going to offer a way for fans to upgrade from their sub-only DVD sets. Damn, not bad.

Also, the dub production is being handled by Seraphim Digital, with Clannad's dub being overseen by Steven Foster (5cm per second, Le Chevalier D'eon, Saiyuki).

(Aw, darn GW beat me to it)

Alright! Clannad dub! I hope they grant my wish of Spike Spencer as Sunohara. Go, ZorabieADV!

I hope this means that Eyeshield 21 has a chance to get dubbed now.

I knew I had to check Clannad out as soon as After Story became the best rated anime on both lists on ANN and the list on MAL, but at that point, the dub was rumored, so I figured I'd wait to hear the official word one way or the other. I'm glad to see that it paid off, since now I can get it bilingual. But wait, it wouldn't have mattered if I did buy it when it was sub-only. That's awesome that Neo-ADV is doing that. This seems like the start of a great comeback. I can almost forgive them for most of the mistakes they've made. Now they just have to do the same with Gintama.

Hallelujah there's an upgrade program! Good to know I don't have to buy Clannad twice to enjoy the dub.

It'd be better for them to dub Gintama and Eyeshield from the get go but if they keep with the upgrade program I guess a sub-only release is sufficient for now.

Oh, so those rumors were true. Good news for the dubbing industry in Texas for sure. I know a lot of former ADV VAs were unable to participate in any anime dubs because they simply could not afford to travel to Ft. Worth to record for Funimation, so now they have a chance to work again. Let's hope it works out.

Huh. Well, I think I'll check out Clannad now, since everyone loves it. I don't feel so bad about buying Skull Man sub-only now.

Dub in seven days!

I gotta see this. Hope they don't screw it up.

This just keeps getting better. Now I don't even have to commit to buying the first bilingual DVD set to make sure I like this anime.

Going back to the old days of ADV, a cast guessing game is taking place on Mania's anime/manga message boarRAB (aka the board that was originally part of animeondvd.com before it merged with Mania). No prizes this time around, though.

Anyways, the first round of guessing is completed, and most of the English voices for main cast, as well as some supporting characters, have been confirmed (with a few more characters need to be guessed).

Let me express that I have come to love this show to death.

I will now express my feelings toward the following cast selections in smileys

Sunohara - Greg Ayres

Nagisa - Luci Christian

Fuko - Hilary Haag

Those three will make this dub QUITE hard on the ears as those particular characters. Well I guess Greg Ayres for Sunohara was a given and I'm alright with that... still wish it was someone else but I know exactly what voices Luci and Hilary will do for Nagisa and Fuko respectively and I weep and rage.

The rest of the cast so far seems alright.

The guy who was Orphen and Sanzo is Tomoya. That should be pretty good.

This was my third choice behind Spike Spencer and Steven Blum.

As in FUNi Nami?

Oooookay. I know she does young boys and girls sometimes. I'd have to hear it.

Aw, crap. (I only liked her in Chrono Crusade)

Nice choice for Tomoya, though I still wanted Steven Blum.
