Toon Zone Talkback - Right Stuf & Nozomi Licenses "Dirty Pair"

This is the talkback thread for Right Stuf & Nozomi to Announce New License on Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

We'll be hosting an audio clue for this new license in about 15 minutes. Watch this space.

EDIT: And there it is. Have fun decoding!

It's a robotic voice voicing a numerical code after a gibberish beginning. I'll see if I can transcribe it.

Each nuraber sequence is said twice. Ex: 50225 is said two times.

"Begin Group 10. 50225. 65215. 99551. 32502. 02874. 36980. 22405. 61258. 338."

Turns out it's the Dirty Pair TV series. I'm not too familiar with the title aside from the knowledge that it was one of the very early "Girls With Guns" shows, or possibly the first.

Dirty Pair TV?! This is indescribably good news! One can only wonder how Right Stuf managed to license the series considering ADV were supposedly trying for quite some time to grab the TV show back when both they and the R1 anime industry in general were in a much, much healthier state. That ADV released everything else besides the TV show certianly made me doubtful we'd ever see the original series.

For now, an older license might just be a canny move for Right Stuf, since a sizeable proportion of the people who'd be interested the title would likely be older fans very much used to paying for their anime the old-fashioned way.

An attempt to explain the code and its' connection of Dirty Pair. Basically, each clue is supposed to result in a different 8-digit code of 1's and 0's. Using the ASCII 7-bit table, the result of the twelve transmitions will in the following: nleslelgoayv. Via an anagram program, you get the phrase "Lovely Angels", which is where Dirty Pair fits into the picture, as the Dirty Pair's code name is "Lovely Angels".

Following by example, FUNimation decides to announce their next license by putting a group of the fanbase in the torture house from Saw II.

For real?! I must pinch myself to be sure. : pinches self::

Thank you, Right Stuf and Nozomi! I've been waiting years for an official release.

I'm glad RS and Nozomi actually see this series as releasable. It's really strange that wasn't the case with ADV, after they had released everything else from the 1980's anime incarnation.

Even with no dub, I'll be buying this! Wheee!
