Short version: there's a reason why some of these TV specials don't air any more.

I've been looking forward to this set for a while, and I'm planning to go out and buy it today. These are all the Peanuts specials I wanted on DVD-- the early ones with the original cast. I might not buy any more Peanuts specials after this set, except for maybe the motocross one (which is already out). I already have the Easter Beagle one, which I mainly got because I remember seeing it a lot as a kid.

I already had the Christmas, Hallowe'en and "You're in Love" specials on the single DVDs, but I don't mind buying them again considering that this set barely costs more than one of those individual discs, and I'm getting three specials I either haven't seen, or barely remember (in the case of "Short Summer").

Regarding the statement about some of them being less substantial, I'll wait and see before I comment on the new-to-DVD ones, but I enjoyed "You're in Love Charlie Brown." At the same time, I can see why one would say that it's a bit lightweight, and that the pacing is sort of iffy. It was fun to watch it, but it did sort of feel like a series of barely-related little skits-- Peppermint Patty setting up the meeting, Charlie Brown being late for school, etc. At least there was some overarching story, which is more than I can say for some of the later specials.

I hope that WB continues to release the Peanuts specials chronologically this way as well as releasing "The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show" as it's own set (sets?). This set of six specials are my favorite shows of the series, as these shows, along with the first thirteen episodes of "The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show" best capture the spirit of Charles M. Schulz's comic strip, in my opinion. I'd like to see Peanuts 1970's and 1980's collections!
