This is the talkback thread for FUNimation Announces New Noveraber Titles Including "Dragonaut".

Whew, that took a while to type. I think I covered everything (well, except the one live action title).

I'll probably try out Spice and Wolf; I've heard good things about it. I was going to try Dragonaut too, but after hearing it's pretty much awful... not so much.

Heya, unless you hear concrete word about the Dragon Ball from FUNi themselves I wouldn't quite trust any listings. Things seem a little funky on RightStuf and Amazon right now...

Back to FUNimation owning my wallet. Let's see what there is for me this month.

First, Tower of Druaga. By the way, this is a complete collection of the first season, Aegis of Uruk, not the compete series.

Then, Evangelion 1.01. I hate that FUNimation is pulling this unnecessary double-dipping right off the bat, but I can't wait any longer, and I'll also want the best version when it's available. They already announced that the 1.11 version will be released next spring. So if anyone can wait, I'll be selling the 1.01 version next spring for much cheaper.

One Piece, of course. I'll have to order the previous set now.

Like Jacob said, I'll wait until everything is concrete to order any of the Dragon Ball stuff.

I think we're about due for a RightStuf FUNimation sale.

Gah... One Piece, SGT Frog and the Dragon Box in the same month. Wish they'd spread out that goodness a little more so I can have time to recoop.

Gotta say though 2 SGT Frog boxes out before the end of the year is pretty awesome on their part and I will fully support the release.

Anybody feeling curious about Dragonaut, don't watch it. You'll feel you wasted your time and money. It's seriously the worst anime I've ever seen.

Now then, on a more cheerful note.

Eva and Sgt. Frog for me completely. I'll debate over Case Closed.

Glad I'll be able to get the last 3 OP sets all in one swoop now, once the (hopefully soon) Funi sale comes around.

Sgt. Frog is also one I'll give a fair shot; liked what I saw, and it's even cheaper at $40 MSRP a set.

And I may go for Baraboo Blade; any thoughts?

The release in question is the "Dragon Ball Season 1 Dragonbox Set", since a) there's only been an announcement for the Dragon Ball Z Dragonboxes, b) I can't imagine FUNimation releasing 2 releases of the original Dragon Ball at the same time, anyway, and c) there are now rumors that Amazon is telling people the release date for the first Dragon Ball Z Dragonbox has been moved from Nov 10 to Dec 15.

Yeah, I know, but FUNi DB releases have been popping up all month making little sense (Amazon now has listening for the first two films in ten dollar singles and a rerelease of GT season two in Novemeraber).

But if they could already announce when they'd be releasing 1.11 before they released 1.01, couldn't they either just release 1.11 when they're going to release 1.01 or not release anything at that time and release 1.11 next spring if they have to wait until then for some reason? Did that make sense?

You have to understand that 1.11 is considered a separate item from 1.01, so it can't be shoe-horned into the contract.

FUNI also can't just cancel 1.01 since they announced a release date and everything, and it's a pure bad business move to retract it.

1) Like a half-license. In basic terms, they can't replace 1.01 with 1.11.

2) The way you were suggesting, with releasing nothing until Spring, that's a bad business move due to wasted product manufacturing and editing (since 1..11 has a couple extra scenes that need to be voiced)

1) Oh, okay. That sucks.

2) Well yeah, that would be a bad business move, but I bet they could release 1.11 when they're going to release 1.01.

Anyway, I realize that FUNimation basically had to either pull the double-dipping thing like in Japan or not release 1.11 at all, so they did do the right thing. This is all actually the fault of whichever Japanese companies decided to re-release this re-release 3+ times in a short time and make FUNimation license them separately. I'm glad I'll finally get to own this, and, later, get to own the current best version. When all is said and done, that little bit of extra money I spent won't seem so bad, and hopefully I'll either be able to make some of it back or give 1.01 as a gift. I may even have a Blu-ray player of some kind by spring, which will be another incentive to double-dip. Out of curiosity, which version(s) will you be getting?
