This is the talkback thread for FUNimation Announces New March Titles Including "Strike Witches".

As I mentioned in the post itself, this is preliminary info so it's very possible things could change. Specifically, Shigurui is apparently coming to Blu-ray, but it was already released on the format in March. Not sure why it would need to be released again.

Also, Familiar of Zero just got a re-release last month. Why would it need yet another? Weird.

Also, does FUNimation actually get high-def masters for their Blu-ray titles or do they just upscale their standard def stuff? I've heard bad things about what they did with the Blu-ray for Samurai Champloo.
 
Sweet, I've been waiting on a complete Darker Than Black set. I bought the first single, but I think I'll just sell that and get the whole set. One Piece and Soul Eater are also on my list. Yeesh, FUNi owns my wallet
 
They're continuing Kenichi! Hooray! I'm looking forward to watching it. Evangelion 1.11 on Blu-Ray is a hard one to overlook. I'll order One Piece too. Sgt. Frog remains a possibiilty I'm thinking about. That's just the start, there's a lot to consider.

I'm going to hazard a guess that repeat collections are mostly Viridian releases. That doesn't explain Shigurui, but I'd say that it's likely poised to be discounted.

Feh, Blu-Ray is becoming common enough that I'll soon be enduring internal debates over whether to upgrade my collection or spend effort and money on new anime. Well, I recently found out that Fate/Stay Night had HD, so if they ever manage a Blu-Ray for that I would definitely trade up from my first Geneon release...just thinking aloud.
 
I watched a couple episodes of Burst Angel on BD last night and it looked pretty darn good. If it was simply upscaled, I couldn't tell, even sitting fairly close to the HDTV. Same here. Just as an example, there's a sale on Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid over at RightStuf: $29.99. It won't be that low again for a while, and it was a quality show that I'd love to have in a better format. At the same time, I really want to stop double dipping in 2010. That's a practice I really should break. Oh decisions, decisions...
 
Obviously Sgt. Frog for me. Probably Eva since that's the good one right?

If I have enough money, I'll get the Soul Eater set too.

Strike Witches makes its debut the same day as Queen's Blade? If I was born 2 days later, I'd be ashamed to have my birthday on that day.

Air Gear Box Set: What could be different about it from the one released a year ago?

Darker Than Black Complete Series: I've been waiting for this, so I'll probably get it eventually (whenever I get around to getting the Baccano! set), especially if FUNimation announces the license to the second season soon.

Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone: Both DVD and Blu-ray are being released on March 9? The same day as Final Fantasy XIII? The day I have to have a PS3 by? This couldn't be more perfect. I look forward to my first Blu-ray purchase being one I've been waiting for this long.

One Piece Season 2, Sixth Voyage: But of course.

Soul Eater Part 2: Another one, a month later? Not only does everyone here seem to think it's great, FUNimation seems to be pushing for it even more than One Piece. Maybe I will have to check it out.
 
Hopefully it's cheaper. Though you could probably shop around and find the season set relatively cheaper than retail the price that's going for is more than I'm willing to pay for Air Gear.
 
Sweet! Now we can play the "let's guess which voice actors FUNimation will cast in the English dub for new characters appearing in season 2" game.

Whoever they pick, I just hope that they pick someone good for Siegfried, since even though he's only in a few episodes, his character still NEERAB a voice actor who can nail down his tone and personality just right.

Also, I say that FUNi should cast the voice actor who played younger Toguro in YYH to do Ma Sougetsu's voice in the English dub.
 
Air Gear again? I wouldn't mind getting the box set but I dunno. There's a lot of material in the show that I now consider unfunny.

As for Ouran High School Host Club.....I might bite and buy it on DVD despite watching some of it in my anime club and on Funi's website.

Soul Eater: I've caught up to around the 30's but might complete watching the series while I'm on break.

Eva 1.11? I might also bite for this release as well. Should I still watch Eva 1.01?
 
The visuals compared to 1.01 are such a quality difference, you're better off waiting. When actually watching it, not screen shots, it's staggering.

FUNi, if this is your idea of a counter attack, you're surely mistaken. I'm just recommending them that thsi is a bad idea.
 
Slayers, One Piece, and Sgt. Frog! Ugh, I still haven't caught up on either series, but the season two trailer for Sgt. Frog made it look so awesome, but One Piece is my favorite show, but I've been waiting for the new Slayers series for a long time. Tough decision making.
 
Likely just a coincidence. It also wouldn't surprise me if those who are interested in Queen's Blade are also interested in Strike Witches, so if that's the case, it's not much of a counter attack.
