Toon Zone Talkback - FUNimation Acquires "Linebarrels of Iron" and "Strike Witches"

Nope, not at all in fact I actually like yaoi/yuri and shounen-ai/shoujo-ai, I find the medium very amusing, and some of them are really funny, but let's get back on topic

Linebarrels sure. Strike Witches....? (I mean, yeah, It's got a good story and everything and its not like I'm opposed to fanservice but....really FUNi?)

I don't care for either of these series. I don't like the loli thing and linebarrels didn't seem interesting either.
the ANN forum on the other hand is having a field day with this (even I had something to do with that though)

Oh wow I didn't know you come here.

Yeah the ANN forums are being lit up. The gripe that I have with this series is that they took WW2, which is a horrible event in our past, took out all the seriousness out of it and put pantless underage girls, added some fanservice, and poof, here comes an "awesome show".

...didnt see THAT coming. Figured Strike Witches would be to controversial what with the !pantsu, heavy yuri overtones, and loli-ish facial designs. (Is it me, or can Shimada Fumikane just NOT draw a female who looks older then 20? )

Eh, I can't get too worked up on this one. I have not heard good things about Linebarrels of Iron, and my suspicison is aroused by the protagonist's special eye that you can discern at the official site--just a bit like Code Geass. Don't think it's panned like Dragonaut, but still. Funi clearly has an excellent relationship with Gonzo, but I don't want them to grab duRAB as a consequence. Well, I'll judge it for certain when it comes out.

At the least, if they'll grab these two titles, that means this season's Shangri-La is probably inevitable, which is good since the internet buzz for that one seems mostly positive so far. Of course, that makes me worried about Arad Senki...

Wasn't Strike Witches streamed for free by Gonzo earlier along with Tower of Druaga? I'm guessing that's gone now, but maybe it'll be streaming up on the FUNimation channel soon then.

*checks thread before posting*

....and Shaffer's commentary kills all desire to watch. Damn.

Well, in terms of Linebarrel, they eye thing isn't like Geass at all. It just signifies that he is a pilot of a giant robot and it normally flares up when he's exhibiting typical giant robot fighting spirit.

Thew show itself is pretty much your typical Giant Robot show with a slight twist: guy finRAB giant robot and uses it fight off bad guys, but though he says he does it to become a hero of justice, he's doing it to actually to boost his own ego and to feel important.

I watched the show all the way through on crunchyroll... it's full of shonen and Giant robot cliches. For someone who is a fan, it's okay, but not the best thing in the world

It has a fun plot, likeable characters, good voice cast, and nice fight choreography...but it's hard to deny the fan service aspects. It got the nickname 'Pantsu Witches' for a reason.

No details on whether this is the TV version or the extra fan-servicey DVD version yet, I'm guessing.

Ugh, I hate weeboes. Anyways....

More like someone saw a 2-for-1 deal from a company they dealt with not too long ago. Wasn't Tower and Blasst also licensed at the same time?

And yes, in case you haven't noticed, apparently pants are banned in the military.

Oh yes, and the infamous "Someone took my underwear!" chain of events episode.
