Toon Zone Talkback - Details On 'Beavis and Butt-Head'

Huh.

Well... as long as it's funny, I suppose it can't hurt. The whole "watching Youtube videos on their TV" thing doesn't make a whole lot of sense, though. I know in today's technologically advanced age you can watch stuff from the internet on TV pretty easily, but I don't take those two to be tech-savvy enough to actually set the whole thing up themselves... and then actually know how to use it. They're supposed to be stupid slackers, so unless they start doing things completely out of character, this new aspect doesn't make much sense.

Eh, whatever. As I said; as long as it's still funny, I'll take it. Lord knows Jersey Shore (and probably whatever else they have planned, for that matter) deserves every bit of ribbing that it gets.

Don't we already have enough programs and personalities that spotlight random internet videos to lampoon?

I guess this was the direction they had to take since music videos aren't nearly as relevant in this day and age.

OK then, that's pretty interesting The thought of seeing Beavis and Butt-Head comment on UFC fights does have me interested. Not really feeling the Jersey Shore aspect. Though, to be honest, the whole watching YouTube videos idea sounds like it could make for a separate episode where they try to make one of their own.

As for how they'll watch stuff off of YouTube from their TV, I better see something like a Wii hooked up to their TV.

Beavis and Butthead have a Google enabled TV. They stole it from Stewart Stevenson after he taught them how to use it.

There's your explanation.

/how did two morons with no active parents in the picture and crappy minimum wage jobs afford cable, electricity, etc...

The idea of Beavis and Butt-Head providing commentary for TV shows and YouTube clips has lots of possibilities. I just hope they're not restricted to only commenting on MTV-owned television shows like Jersey Shore.

The UFC thing though sounds kind of lame. It'll most likely be just a bunch of gay jokes..

Can't wait.

I guess they might allow some comments for shows aired on other channels owned by Viacom like Nick and Comedy Central. Imagine Beavis and Butt-head commenting about episodes of Spongebob and South Park.

Maybe they could also make comments on TNA wrestling, which is currently aired on Spike. OTOH, this is going to make a dvd release even harder to put out (even if the owners of the tv shows allow their clips to be on a dvd, youd still have to track down every youtube user as well and pay them royalties).

Beavis and Butthead commenting on YouTube videos...interesting. Now I'm seeing them commenting on one of Chris-Chan's addresses to his trolls or internet-girlfriends, his "Future Message" or him trying to pitch Sonichu to Nintendo or some other business. Come to think of it, I could see them specifically commenting on viral YouTube videos more anything else for that to really take off.

The more I hear the more I don't like this. I hate to sound like some "olde-timer" from the 90s, but the fact is that Beavis & Butt-Head filled a very important void back then. Specifically, they provided an irreverent, unfiltered way to take down pretentious pop-stars who took themselves way too seriously, especially in their music videos. It was a great way for the common people to laugh at the self-important nature of celebrities with a level of crudeness that had never been seen before.

Today, not only do we have an over-abundance of pop-culture mocking in comedy in general, but there are even specifically several shows on TV dedicated to making fun of pop stars, reality TV, and even stupid Internet videos. Also, their simple, crude humor was very effective against the self-important nature of pop stars back then - they didn't really even need to make clever jokes, just hearing them making farting noises and laughing while watching a U2 video was hilarious. But what fun is there in watching them do the same things while watching dumb teenagers on Youtube that already don't take themselves seriously and that no one has heard of? I can already watch Tosh.0 for that and at least get some clever jokes out of it. The same applies for stuff like Jersey Shore, which is already pretty self-aware of its stupidity, with, say, The Soup. You don't need B&B acting crude to laugh at the moronic nature of most stuff today.

I also hate the fact that MTV probably won't let them really make fun of Jersey Shore - in other words regardless of what they say they'll probably make it still come off looking good, which of course is abhorrent.

Well, if the aforementioned The Soup can make fun of E! in a bad light (The channel that airs the show), hopefully New Beavis & Butthead will play out the same.
