On the plus side, my local Best Buy is apparently in the top-tier list of stores, although I notice they've been scaling back their anime as well. I also don't buy from them very often. It also turns out that the store near my parents' place is one of the stores getting scaled back, so if I can time it right, maybe I can go visit my parents and hit the Best Buy to grab a bunch of stuff cheap. Then again, I haven't even taken a bunch of DVRAB out of the shrinkwrap NOW, so buying more stuff just because it's cheap might not be all that productive.
In any event, I'm not sure this is as bad as it might look, especially if the lower-tier stores aren't moving product profitably for Best Buy or for the stores. It does mean that the likelihood of getting quirkier stuff like Goblin Cat or the follow-up series dropped dramatically, unless maybe Sony will pick it up as arthouse anime.
