Toon Zone Talkback - 2008 Primetime Emmy Animated Programming Nominations Revealed

So no Death Note? Ah well, you can't have everything.

I only wish that the rules for nominating animated programs would be somehow changed so that English versions of anime episodes (that aired here during the year of qualification) would be nominated. I once suggested that certain episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist be nominated (such as "Truth Behind Truths" and "Words of Farewell" for the '04-'05 season and perhaps "Theory of Avarice" for the '05-'06 season) but was disappointed when I discovered the rules. (The qualification would be based upon when it premiered on TV in the original country as opposed to when it first premiered on TV here in the States in English.)

I'll be shouting for Chowder and Justice League.

I agree, otherwise the nomination library will continue to be very limited.

With that said though, I wholeheartedly understand why the rules exist. It's difficult to give credit to the creator of a piece of media that's foreign rather than local.

No. Just...no.

There's no reason that Americanized anime needs to be included in the Emmys. I want to see things that are made in my own country win awards and get the acclaim. If the anime is so good let it win awards in the country it was made in. It's an American awards show. Let the American cartoons compete.

Again, just...no.

Alright for Chowder and Justice League! I'm hoping that those will win too. I'm not too surprised that Phineas and Ferb are in a couple of categories too. Some of their songs can be oddly catchy, but in a good way.

Anyone else wished that Shrek the Halls was nominated for the Animated Program (Less Than 30 Minutes) category?

As for me, I'm rooting for the Stars Wars episodes of Robot Chicken and Family Guy.

I haven't seen Fat Guy's...er, Family Guy's "Blue Harvest" episode, but I'm definitely rooting for Justice League: New Frontier. I enjoyed the movie just as much as I did the book (and I haven't even read Volume Two!)

I hate acting judgmental, but I must agree. There are many better domestic animations ahead of camp lazlo that deserve nominations. Ben 10, Robotboy(I believe its domestic, correct?), My Gym Partner is a Monkey, Spongebob Squarepants--all imo make more deserving nominations.

I wouldn't nominate Spongebob for something else. I think a show should only get one award, rather than like Simpsons and Family Guy, which took up two spots each.

CN Europe Co-Production with some French studio to be exact. Don't know how Lazlo made it up there with that episode though. It was kinda bad in my opinion.
