TomTom Mobile 5 GPS receiver package for Nokia 6620

Ya, I preferred the S60 Mobile version to the Go - although the larger screen size on a Palm or PPC is very nice as well.... I just picked up the 2GB MMC for my 6620, and it's FINE... Loads all the US and Canada Maps, plus my fav european maps as well... Plus with the PDA versions of TomTom, you can upgrade your GPS receiver at will... the Go 300/700 are totally integrated, so if you want a better receiver, you have to upgrade the whole damn thing...

Not to mention that the thing is pretty large - my BT receiver is the size of a zippo, and I just use a windshield sucker-phone mount to hold my phone...

Works awesome!

To get the maps....

1)Get the TTN5 Maps CD1.
2)Run the installer (WinXP, 2000 Mac does not work for this)
3)Select to install additional Maps
4)Select the map you want.
5)Select another loaction (Not TomTom Go)
6)Select MMC card if you have it in a card reader or just another folder.
6a)move the map folder (move the entire folder) to your MMC card.
7)Start up TTM5 and select the map.

**I fould it necessary to keep the original EU map that came with the TTM5 MMC card. Otherwise there is autorization/no map found issues.

Right, but it won't navigate from one map set to another even if you have them all loaded. Not really a problem most of the time, but on a long road trip it would be a bit of an inconvenience to have to switch from one set to another.

I live out East of the City - and was trying to find a street in Port Hope (a third of the way between Oshawa and Kingston) - the map tells me it's way out west near Windsor - Ya, I think the jury is in on this one - TomTom maps for CA suck.

you would need external gps unit as ther eis no NO GPS BUILTS IN 6620.
i brought holoux sirf iii but cant seem to install tom tom on my 2 GB memeory card for 6620. i dunno what i am doing wrong it just would not do the set up . even though i copied all the files to my memory MMC card it still would not open up just keeps saying file error when i open the memory car din my 6620.
would appriciate if you could tell me what to do

Actually, I don't find it that bad... I drove from Toronto to Buffalo looking for a particular Address- just switched maps when I got close to the border... not too annoying (Menu..Preferences..Right, right, right, Switch Map)

I finally copied all TT Mobile 5 files to the MMC. But when I go to the File Manager and click on "TomTom Mobile.exe", it says "unknown file format" Can someone shed some light ?

Hello rsoares28, I believe tomtom mobile 5 is working on P910i. There is someone post in GPSPassion forum before. Besides, I have a link up there which show a tomtom mobile 5 work for P910i phone in ebay. Is the one sell in ebay different as yours one? Besides, I found this in TomTom website

May I know is there any different version of tomtom mobile 5? Because if it is working on 6620, i believe it will work on P910i which use symbian UIQ. Please correct me I am wrong. Thank you.

Hey! Acura! Haven't heard from you in a while - how's you setup working? I've actually had Some odd issues with Tomtom - like if bluetooth is off when when I launch it, then answer the prompt with 'yes' to turn it on, it never actually works - I have to exit TomTom, turn off BT, then turn on BT, then go to TomTom and try again... very frustrating..

Hello rsoares28,

I have double check in the symbian webpage http://www.symbian.com/phones/index.html . It shows that Nokia 6620 and SE P910i seems like use the same OS: Symbian OS v7.0. The different is their User Iterface which Nokia uses S60 and P910i uses UIQ. After double check in tomtom and symbian webiste, I believe the Tomtom Mobile 5 should work for both phones since they are using the symbian OS 7.0. Am I correct? thanks

I have finished the setup as you can see my reply on this thread.

I haven't used it for a couple weeks already but it was working fine.

Has anyone used the TomTom Mobile Florida map ? I am planning to take it with me for the Florida trip next week. I am wondering if it provides more detail and updated street name and map than the Canadian map ?

Ok guys I might have a off the topic question but if you guys can help me that would be great! I currently have the Globalsat BT-338 which I use with my Nokia 6620 but I just purchased a laptop and I was looking to maybe getting Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006 which seems to have some nice features but I was wondering if anyone knew if I could just buy the Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006 and just use the Globalsat BT-338 with the laptop and Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006 or should I just buy the whole Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006 package that comes with a USB GPS?
