Today I was doing a stool culture and put something in that look like a rubber band...

...was it a worm? I've been having a lot of abdominal pain lately as well as diarrhea and my doctor ordered a stool culture test.

When I was collecting the samples (it was disgusting because my stools at the time looked similar to when a dog has a blow out and it's just a massive pile of diarrhea) I was using the scoop for the containers and I pulled this rubber band looking thing out from the middle of the pile. It was very long and it resembled a rubber band I couldn't tell what it was. What could this potentially be given it definitely was not a rubber band I'm thinking it's a worm? Could this be the cause of my pain if not do you think it could be anything else?

Funny thing is I had a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy 3 months ago and they came back fine. The abdominal pain never went away though, would a colonoscopy not see worms?

umm.. a colonoscopy cannot detect worms.. its actually the tape test.. how is it done?! well, as soon as you wake up in the morning, get transparent tape and tape your butt then take it out. this will detect the worms..

as for the rubber band thing, it could be a worm and it could not. further test could confirm that.

as for the pain? it could be caused by bacteria or maybe you have eaten something bad. you could have mild food poisoning.

just relax and see what your doctor says..

good luck..
:)
