alrighttt
so i have been breeding rabbits for 6 years. A few months ago i had a litter that surprised me. Both parents have normal ears.. yet some of the babies were lops. We found the mother a few years back so im thinking she may have a recessive lop gene. I can push both her ears down.
The father was from the pet shop and i originally thought he had the gene... his ears are slightly out.
then i thought and was wondering.. for the babies to have lop ears.. would both parents need to be heterozygous (both have the recessive gene) ??? or do you think just one needs it.
The mother currently has babies to a buck with a recessive lop gene and if these all have lop ears i think that proves the mother has the gene.
Thanksss guys
please source if possible
